Player’s Choice Godfest June 2016: Review and Analysis

Introduction

Player’s Choice Godfest is one of the most anticipated times of the year for all Puzzle and Dragoners. It is a time where the community collectively votes for the most popular gods and is a great way to help populate your monster box with numerous strong cards. In my previous post, I compared PCGF and 4x Godfest Exclusive (GFE) events and came to the conclusion that it is better to roll PCGF for newer accounts/players missing numerous key cards.

Which Godfest to roll?
PCGF 4x GFE
Frequency 2 times per year  Random
Benefits
who?
  • New accounts/less developed boxes
  • Great way to fill in the numerous gaps in your monster box
  • Those who are not chasing MP or 6* GFE
  • Veteran players
  • Focus is MP and 6* GFE
  • Those with very developed monster boxes

However, with the promise of 4x rates for all the featured monsters, my approach needs some tweaking. Due to not knowing the true rates of any godfest, we cannot do any mathematical comparisons; however, the 4x rates should imply the featured GFE (and most importantly 6* GFE) are at a similar hit rate. You may still get less MP per stone spent as numerous non-GFE are also featured, but if you are chasing the featured 6-stars AND the other featured gods, this may be the best time to roll. Furthermore, each monster comes out with a +50 to a random stat and this will help you achieve +297 faster. However, take these predictions with a grain of salt as I do not know the rates and can only guess.

In addition, all of these monsters qualify for Skill Inheritance so please do not hastily sell or feed them off without taking a moment to think if they can benefit your various teams. I also strongly encourage you to read my Advanced Strategies post on Skill Inheritance to gain a better understanding on how to make the most of your active skills.

Lastly, if you wish to read about virtually any other REM monster not listed below, please refer to my Master List which will direct you to the appropriate page.

Overview of featured Gods

The voting for North America was done rather well as we managed to include nearly all the top tier cards while having some forethought into voting in cards that will become relevant with the release of the 4 Gentlemen 300k MP cards and new Awoken evolutions.

Top Voted Monsters in Descending Order
Eschamali
Dark Kali
Scheat Awoken Yomi Isis
rodin Awoken Pandora Awoken Archdemon Lucifer Gadius Ilm
Skuld ult evo Uriel Indra row Shiva Sakuya
Susano Awoken Oorochi Ryune Kali Blue Sonia
Akechi Awoken DQXQ Haku I&I Raphael

Some things that jump out:

  • Eight 6-star and two 5-star GFE cards
  • Susano Susano as the only wood monster (who is really used for his shield). This is probably due to no new wood 300k MP card
  • Uriel Uriel & Gadius Gadius in preparation for Xiang Mei Xiang Mei
  • Yomi Awoken Yomi being voted in as #4. I know they are strong, but never knew they were THAT popular
  • The only Norse god to be voted in was I&I I&I. All of them are incredibly powerful and can be used for skill inheritance to boost two different colours.
  • Eschamali Eschamali beating Dark Kali Dark Kali. Eschamali is powerful (and I do want one), but she can in theory be replaced in the future. On the other hand, Dark Kali is the best at what she does (just look at all the new monsters with spin-offs of her active) and will probably never be replaced moving forward.

Monster Analysis

I will sort all the featured monsters into 6* GFE, 5* GFE, and the five colours to help with finding your desired monster.

6* GFE

Despite having eight 6-star GFE populating this PCGF, they will still remain the most elusive and rare to obtain. However, if you are fortunate enough to roll one (or more), you will probably be overjoyed and excited to wield some of the strongest monsters in Puzzle and Dragons

No, the 7 dark orb enhance Dark Orb Enhance awakenings are not a typo and those make Eschamali one of the best dark monsters in the game. She can single handedly ensure every dark orb that appears is already enhanced and her active pushes the envelope of power creep as she combines both a double orb changer, poison/jammer removal, and enhanced skyfall on only a 10 turn cooldown. Furthermore, the enhanced skyfalls synergize perfectly with her dark orb awakenings to ensure massive additional damage. Eschamali can act as a pseudo board refresh when faced with numerous poison and jammer orbs as she will convert all of them into dark and arguably replaces Haku Haku on mono dark teams.Due to her power and utility, Eschamali can be found on every mono dark including, but not limited to Awoken Lucifer Awoken Archdemon Lucifer, Yomi Dragon Yomi Dragon, Dark Metatron dtron, Awoken Haku Haku, and Awoken Yomi Awoken Yomi. The only mainstream team she is not used on is Awoken Pandora Awoken Pandora due to no devil typing. Even without any row enhance Dark row awakenings, Eschamli can still be used on row based teams due to diminishing returns when having 10+ row awakenings. At that point, you begin to prioritize orb enhance.Overall an incredible monster to own and will be popular for years to come. The only real fault you can find in Eschamali is that she is a new 6-star godfest exclusive and thus very rare and hard to obtain. However, if you are lucky enough to pull her, your dark box potential will sky-rocket immensely. I want need her…. GH please.

Blazing Goddess of Power, Kali is one of the most coveted monsters in the game and shines brightest on rainbow teams. Her ability create at least 3 of each element and heart orbs allows for a guaranteed activation on all rainbow teams. There will be times where you need to refresh the board, heal, and deal lethal damage on the same turn, and Dark Kali allows you to do this. Furthermore, you can use her active in conjunction with another orb changer to create a more favourable board for certain rainbow teams who do not requires all 6 elements.

Dark Kali has become somewhat a staple sub on Ra Dragon Ra Dragon teams and many players run two. She provides both dark and fire coverage while providing bind immunity, skill bind resist Skill Lock Resistand recover bind Bind Clear awakening awakening. Through the recover bind awakening, Dark Kali can act as a pseudo bind clearer and her active may generate 6 heart orbs. Other teams she can make an appearance are Awoken Ra Ra, Sakuya Sakuya, Sephiroth Sephiroth (even without ideal typing), Light Kali Kali, and essentially any other rainbow team.

The main drawbacks of Dark Kali is that she is one of the rarest monsters in PAD as she is a 6-star GFE. This can prove challenging for most players to acquire one, let alone two for your favourite rainbow team. Your best bet is to wait for a 4x GFE event and pray you get lucky.

Holy Scheat, 5 two prong attack TPA awakenings! Scheat is another 6-star Godfest Exlusive and offers very high base stats, incredibly powerful active, combined with insane burst potential through two prong attacks. Her active converts light, hearts, jammer, and poison orbs to water orbs as well as increasing the skyfall chance of water orbs by 15% for 4 turns on a 10 turn cooldown. She essentially combines the actives of several monsters into one and greatly eases team building strain in terms of active management. By removing jammer and poison orbs, you can save a full board active and the enhanced skyfall mechanic can overwrite other skyfall abilities created by certain bosses.Scheat‘s base stats are powerful when matching two prong attacks, but her 653 attack falls flat when matching rows. However, she is still a great candidate for the attack latent Imp ATK Tamadras as a means to further augment her TPA potential.

Water two prong attack teams are still not as popular as their row based cousin, and perhaps the best team fit for Scheat is Rukia Rukai Kuchiki.  As a side note, a lack of skill bind resist Skill Lock Resist can impose restrictions in team building if you wish to achieve 100% immunity.

Overall, Scheat is a fun card to own, but may remain a sleeping powerhouse due to a lack of viable teams she can sub on.

Red Odin is considered by many to be a staple sub on push button teams. However, with the introduction of skill inheritance, his dependency is slightly lowered if you are willing to invest in a high skill boost base monster. However, Red Odin performs the job so well and can make farming a breeze. Unfortunately, his uses beyond a farming sub are slim as his active will only be situationally useful to bypass high defence monsters via poison. You can also inherit his skill which does make him one of the few poison cards that can be used as an assistant.

In an effort to increase his viability, Red Odin has received various buffs to his leader skill and now provides 2x HP and 3.75x ATK. This is reasonable and can make as a pseudo tank team lead. Unfortunately, his active is relatively weak and would require an inheritance to have more viability.

Overall, Red Odin is a luxury card who will not see much use for the average player. Just remember, being able to farm an easy dungeon fast does not increase the drop rates, only the speed in which you can clear (and burn stones).

Ilm is essentially a Light/Fire Sonia without an ultimate evolution. This automatically diminishes their value as they only have 6 awakenings (which is low for a 6-star GFE) and I was somewhat surprised to see them in the PCGF. However, it just shows how popular Saria Saria / Thor Thor  and Machine Zeus Awoken Zeus teams are as Ilm can almost always produce 2+ rows through their active. You are of course running the risk of a horrible orb-trolled board and cannot correct via orb changers due to only light and fire orbs being generated. I would prefer to run a tri-colour board changer as you can combo with another sub to pretty much guarantee a burst heavy board. Regardless, you can still effectively utilize Ilm on your mono light row teams and the promise of a future ultimate evolution should address their lack of awakenings.

Ilm’s leadership potential is for the most part impractical as a 36x lead is not game breaking considering you have to match two different colours and have no HP or RCV multiplier. However, you can use Ilm as a fantastic Tsubaki Tsubaki sub (if you can find friends who use them) as you generate their two needed colours and can achieve a higher multiplier.

Overall, Ilm is a potent mono light sub and their active can be transferred to both fire and light teams.

Skuld has received a resurgence in popularity the past few months due to her leader skill receiving a buff and new monsters coming into power. With both her God and Physical typing, she can find a home on Neptune Dragon Neptune Dragon and Blue Sonia Blue Sonia teams. Furthermore, her heart generating active allows her to be utilized by Lakshmi Awoken Lakshimi while her TPA and orb enhance awakenings give her a position as a Rukia Rukai Kuchiki. Finally, her overall utility grants Skuld a spot on I&I I&I / Ryune Ryune. In short, her versatility is unrivaled and makes a great addition to any water box.

Even without any row enhance awakenings, her dual orb blue + orb enhance and utility based awakenings provide diversity and her active can be used in conjunction with any heart breaker to form a 2/3 water board.

As a leader, Skuld forms a modest 27.56x team as a 5o1e playstyle and should be able to clear modest content due to your enhanced RCV for water/wood types.

Overall, Skuld is a versatile water card who should be a splashing success to your monster box. Lastly, her tri-colour board changer is powerful for skill inheritance as it allows you to heal and deal damage at the same time for water and wood teams.

Ryune has emerged as a Fantastic water monster due to their leadership and sub potential. As a leader, Ryune can pair with Awoken I&I I&I to form a formidible tank team that is capable of clearing end game content (full guide can be found HERE). Tank teams are potent in today’s meta as they are capable of stalling on what would normally be dangerous floors. Once they have their actives fully charged, they are capable of unleashing massive burst damage through orb changers and stacking water rows Water Row.

Outside of a leadership role, Ryune is one of the most coveted water subs as she can be used on every team with the exclusion of Neptune Dragon Neptune Dragon (due to no god typing). This means that Blue Sonia Blue Sonia and Lakshmi Awoken Lakshimi teams can take advantage of her powerful active. Looking at Ryune’s active, it becomes apparent that she can be used in conjunction with any heart breaker and Hatsume Hatsume to form a 2/3 water board. In addition, the ability to heal and deal burst damage is invaluable in higher end content.

The main drawbacks to using Ryune as a sub is a lack of diverse awakenings: most notably no SBR Skill Lock Resist. This may be corrected in a future ultimate evolution so we simply need to be patient. On the bright side, her naturally high base attack paired with two TPA TPAawakenings can allow Ryune to pierce through high defence bosses.

Overall, Ryune is a powerhouse water sub who can have their active inherited onto both water and dark teams through skill inheritance.

Blue Sonia (aka Blonia) has gone through various waves of popularity since her release as her main diminishing factor was a shallow sub pool. However, her ultimate evolution proved to be a splashing success as she is able to utilize physical and dragon subs along with an increasing her attack multiplier to 14.06x. You also benefit from 6.25x RCV which means you can essentially heal back to full health from minimal heart matching and combos. Furthermore, Blue Sonia has an incredible amount of base HP (5,780 at max level) and her teams will surpass 30k health with proper investment. You should also use your HP Latent Tamadras Imp HP on her as they will yield a significant amount of bonus health.

Blue Sonia teams are essentially a tank team that has the highest recovery multiplier and are somewhat immortal provided you can survive each attack. This is further amplified in coop where your naturally high health is further augmented and your sky-high recovery (my team has ~18k from a single heart orb match) allows for easy stalling. If you wish to check out some of my gameplay in coop with Blue Sonia, refer to my previous post in challenge dungeons or Mythic Plus Scarlet. Viable sub options for her team include, but not limited to I&I I&I, Ryune Ryune, Blue Odin Blodin, Andromeda Bankai Andro, B/L Hermes BL Hermes, Karin Awoken Karin, Orochi Awoken Oorochi, and Mori  Mori Motanari.

Blonia teams are capable of clearing almost all the content in Puzzle and Dragons and she is starting to regain popularity as players realize her potential. Looking at Blonia as a sub, she can find a home on I&I I&I / Ryune Ryune as a massive HP stick and powerful board changer. She is less effective on other mono water teams due to no god typing or heart generation, but can still be used in a pinch.

Overall, Blue Sonia is a fantastic monster to own and I hope she continues to gain popularity as a leader. Do not sell for 50k Monster Points.

Side note, I am in love with her art as she combines the colour blue, dragons, and a pretty girl.

5* GFE

Despite the fact that only two 5-star GFE were voted in this time, the two chosen are incredibly powerful. They both fulfil their respective team roles as one of the best options and are somewhat irreplaceable when challenging high level content.

Light Kali is one of the prettiest and most desired monsters in Puzzle and Dragons. She combines style and grace along with powerful awakenings and one of the strongest actives in the game. Her leadership potential is modest and will be augmented to 56.25x with a future buff in the near future at 6 combos and fire, water, light, and dark matches. What sets her apart from other rainbow leads is her ability to create an ideal board with her active and gives you the opportunity to utilize other subs to counter the various dungeon mechanics. Light Kali’s main downside as a lead is her vulnerability to binds and even with 56.26x ATK, her damage is not that spectacular in today’s meta (but much more consistent than Awoken Sakuya Sakuya if unable to achieve 8+ combos every turn). For a more detailed discussion, please read my Light Kali Team Building Guide.

Leadership potential aside, Light Kali is one of the most coveted subs due to her invaluable board change. Being able to change the board every 7 turns is amazing for rainbow teams and is the safest way to prevent orb troll and premature death. Light Kali can be found on both Awoken Ra Ra, Sakuya Sakuya, and DQXQ Awoken DQXQ teams for both the board refresh and fire coverage. In fact, many players will run 2 Light Kalis due to her synergistic awakenings and light as her primary attribute.

Kali’s main diminishing factor is a lack of bind immunity and inability to spawn heart orbs. This prevents her from being used on Ra Dragon Ra Dragon teams. Furthermore, there will be situations where you need to refresh the board, heal, and deal lethal damage and this cannot be done via Light Kali’s active.

Overall an amazing card to own and do not sell away any dupes as she is fantastic for Skill Inheritance.

Gadius has been propelled back into the spotlight with the introduction of Xiang Mei Xiang Mei who is the first of the Four Gentlemen series 300k MP monsters. Xiang Mei has an incredibly restrictive sub pool as she can only use fire healers who do not remove heart orbs. As such, Gadius is an irreplaceable sub due to his powerful active and healer typing. Gadius can also make appearances on other mono fire teams including Awoken Shiva Shiva and Yamato Bankai Yamato due to his heart generating active and ability to combo well with numerous other monsters. However, Uriel Uriel has the greatest potential for active pairing as you will create a 50% board of fire and 50% enhanced heart orbs. Gadius can also be utilized as a pseudo bind clearer due to his bind immunity, bind recovery Bind Clear awakening awakening, and active that has a chance to spawn 6+ heart orbs. This is fantastic as you do not need to sacrifice an entire sub slot to a dedicated bind clearer and have access to more firepower. Furthermore, his devil killer Devil killer awakening is a powerful means to deal 3x more damage to devil type bosses.

Moving away from a sub role, Gadius will become a powerful (and fun to play) leader when his leader skill is buffed to 42.25x ATK as he can capitalize upon numerous fire rows Fire RowGranted you need to sacrifice some board space for heart orbs, but his output will be tremendous and will feel like a budget/fragile Xiang Mei with a deeper sub pool.

The main downsides to Gadius as a whole are a lack of both skill boost Skill Boost and skill bind resist Skill Lock Resist awakenings. This can cause issues with having actives ready by turn 1 or achieving 100% bind immunity. These problems become less dangerous in coop as you have a partner to help provide those awakenings, but restricts using more than one per team.

Overall, Gadius is mandatory if you plan on using Xiang Mei, but outside of that, he is more of a novelty/option for mono fire teams. His leadership potential is respectable, but not game breaking in today’s meta.

Fire: Non-GFE

Fire had a surprisingly lacklustre showing this time around as only three monsters were voted in (I do not really count Red Odin rodin as he is primarily for push-button teams). This is perhaps testament to the low variety of leads fire has its disposal with many cards going to waste due to no strong row leader (outside of the super rare Collab Raoh Raoh). However, all of the voted cards do have a purpose in the current meta and are a great addition to any box. To read more about the very soon to be released Xiang Mei Xiang Mei, please read my discussion post HERE.

Awoken Shiva is one of the hottest leads in Puzzle and Dragons as he forms a powerful 27.56x ATK / 2.25x RCV team that is two prong  TPA reliant (in a future update, currently 20.25x). Furthermore, his sub pool has no type restrictions other than they must have the fire attribute. This allows for great flexibility with team building along with compensating for fire’s normally low RCV. I enjoy Awoken Shiva’s playstyle as he combines speed and power and can clear high level content due to amazing burst potential. If you wish to read about how to properly construct a Shiva team, please refer to my Team Building Guide.

Unfortunately, Awoken Shiva does falter in the highest level content as his active is relatively weak and his damage output is heavily gated by active usage and may run out of steam mid dungeon. However, do not let this discourage you as he is capable of clearing Challenge 9s and some 10s with the right team and investment. You will also be able to find a huge number of friends due to his popularity.

Lastly, his sub potential is quite low as there are better options for a fire orb enhancer.

Uriel, like the rest of his pantheon, received Bankai evolutions. Bankai is a term often applied to monsters who have received an ultimate evolution of an already existing evolution. These types of evolutions grant the monster 3 different typings along with additional awakenings. There is no change to their active skill.

Uriel has unusually high recovery for a fire monster and his 4 auto heal Auto heal awakenings grant 2,000 health every turn an orb is matched. These can be great for many fire teams as many struggle with recovering health. His God typing allows him to be used on Shiva Dragon Shiva D teams and his healer sub type will make him a staple sub on Xiang Mei Xiang Mei (a new 300k MP monster). Furthermore, Uriel has an amazing orb change combo with Gadius Gadius or Leilan Awoken Leilan to create dual colour, fire heavy boards for explosive burst damage.

Uriel’s 3 fire row Fire Row awakenings allow him to make an appearance on other row based teams, but will limit his usage on TPA TPA heavy teams such as Awoken Shiva Shiva.

Water: Non-GFE

Water monsters were a splashing success this time around with an incredible 7 monsters being voted in. Not to dampen your spirits, but four of them are the rare 6-star GFE and your box may not be awash with water cards this PCGF.

Isis is one of the most sought after cards in Puzzle and Dragons due to her incredible utility, active, skill inheritance potential, colour coverage, and beauty. It is sometimes challenging to find a sub who can cover both water and wood while being useful (others that come to mind are Sun Quan Sun Quan and Orochi Awoken Oorochi). However, neither of those offer the same degree of defensive utility as Isis along with a quick charging active. With an active that takes only 3 turns to recharge, Isis makes an amazing base monster for inheriting a skill. This way you can have the colour coverage and option of bind clearing along with an inherited active for only an additional 3 turns of cooldown.Isis is naturally at home on mono water teams as she offers some offensive capabilities, but perhaps her most popular use is on Ra Dragon Ra Dragon (or other rainbow) teams. If you have a Dark Kali Dark Kali, your team is essentially bind immune as you your colour activation requirements will always be met. Furthermore, you can clear binds from other subs with Isis’s active.

Sub potential aside, Isis makes a wonderful leader for new accounts as she will help teach you the basics of comboing along with colour management.

Viper Orochi has gone from zero to hero with various ups and downs along the way. Presently, Orochi is one of the most desired monsters in Puzzle and Dragons because of his 4 turn delay. Until recently, delays were beginning to go out of style; however, with the advent of stronger bosses with either resolve or damage absorption shields, players are become more reliant on the extra turns gained from his active. In addition, Orochi covers the awkward water and wood attribute on rainbow teams and is only outclassed by Awoken Isis Isis in that regard. The 4 two prong attack TPA awakenings allow for spectacular burst damage, but his naturally low base attack means he requires plus egg investment to truly shine. Orochi can also be used on every mono water team if you require a delay.

With the introduction of Skill Inheritance, duplicate Orochis are quite desired and I strongly encourage you to not sell them for 5,000 Monster Points. Other teams include Awoken Karin Awoken Karin, Hermes A Hermes, Lakshmi Awoken Lakshimi, and Skuld Skuld ult evo. Even without a god typing, You may still elect to use her on Neptune Dragon Neptune Dragon teams due to the sheer power of her active and awakenings.

I&I also pair wonderfully well with Ryune Ryune to form a 2x HP / 10.5x ATK / 2.5x RCV team that is capable of clearing essentially all the content PAD has to offer. For a more detailed analysis, please read my Full Guide for more information on team building and strategy. I&I / Ryune teams are effective due to their high survivability that allows them to stall on what would normally be dangerous floors for other teams. They can effectively control their damage and choose when to unleash amazing burst damage and sweep a floor.

Overall, I&I is a highly desired monster due to their sub and leadership potential and fantastic art work.

Wood: Non-GFE

Got wood? Apparently the answer is we don’t really care as only a single wood monster was voted in this PCGF. And Susano is not really viewed as a wood sub, but more so as a Fantastic shielding option. He would probably be even more popular if he was a different colour and had wood as a subtype.

I wish my abs were as chiselled and sculpted as Awoken Susano because that would most certainly boost my husbando potential. Regardless, Susano is the definition of a dream boat in both looks and sub potential. He is a favoured sub on both rainbow and mono wood teams due to his wood and fire coverage. His bind immunity is crucial for both having access to a shield at all times along with being able to contribute his colours for rainbow team activation. Susano is perhaps most at home on Awoken Sakuya Sakuya teams due to full colour coverage and the ability to trigger her leader skill if the entire team is bound. On mono wood teams, Susano provides a valuable shielding component and haste while providing 2 two prong TPA awakenings.

The shielding component has become invaluable with stronger preemptive strikes or the need to stall on dangerous bosses and the 50% damage reduction allows you to survive most attacks. The haste has situationally useful uses when skill delay attacks are involved. Due to his unbindability, Susano is a great candidate for full rainbow latent resists (1% of each colour) as a means to survive 100% gravity attacks. His active is also a viable choice for skill inheritance.

Susano’s main weakness is a lack of Skill Bind Resist Skill Lock Resist and this could place constraints on team building in order to achieve 100% immunity.

Light: Non-GFE

Light monsters still shine bright with the introduction of row based teams who capitalize on flooding the board with numerous light orbs to unleash explosive damage. His other evolution,  Indra , has god typing which has made him nearly a staple sub on Ra Dragon Ra Dragon teams due to his 2 skill lock resist Skill Lock Resist awakenings. I used to use Indra for that feature when my various teams were less developed as it allowed me to achieve 100% immunity with ease. Lastly, many rainbow teams will use him for the shield as they lack an HP modifier.

Overall, Indra is a vital sub on certain teams, but does not have too many uses for the average player. Perhaps with his Awoken Evolution will we have something more meaningful and versatile.

Sakuya has gone through a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs over the course of her PAD career. She is still currently one of the strongest leaders (and now subs) in her awoken form as she can scale up to 100x damage at 10 combos. The main pitfalls of using Sakuya are a high skill cap, damage inconsistency/orb troll (as it is a scaling and high skill multiplier), and dependency on Light Kalis Kali or other board refreshers. It is still possible to play Sakuya effectively without board changers, but it is becoming harder in today’s meta. Lastly, without any HP/RCV multiplier, it may be challenging to recover after attacks or when stalling. All that negativity aside, Sakuya is still an amazing leader and has been my go to team for over 2 years and have used her to clear numerous Challenge 10s.

Sakuya ‘s uses as a sub are now wide and varied as she combines both a gravity and 3-turn bind clear while being bind immune. Furthermore, she essentially outclasses Light Metatron Metatron in nearly every aspect as a sub.

Awoken DQXQ is finally reuniting the two sisters to form a rainbow/light row hybrid leader who can achieve 100x damage! This has incredible burst potential while catering to players who enjoy rainbow teams as you are still required to match 4 elements. Furthermore, you are able to control your damage as your multiplier scales from 16-100x based on the number of linked water or light orbs. This is invaluable when facing content that has specific damage absorption shields. Unfortunately, Awoken DQXQ is vulnerable to binds and also lost her bind recover Bind Clear awakening awakening so you will need to carefully plan your team roster before tackling a dungeon. Furthermore, her lack of an HP or RCV multiplier may cause you problems when stalling or recovering from a large preemptive. However, you have immense sub flexibility due to skill inheritance and should be able to address any problematic mechanic.

Branching away from her leadership potential, Awoken DQXQ or her L/L DQXQ LL evolution act as a powerhouse mono light sub due to synergistic awakenings and complimenting active. She finds an ideal home on Saria Saria / Thor Thor teams and can also act as a pseudo bind clearer through Bind Clear awakening (in her L/L form) and a row of hearts provided she herself is not bound. DQXQ LL can also be found on Awoken Ama Amate or any other healer team as a staple sub.

For beginner players, any evolution DQXQ is a wonderful starting leader who will teach you comboing skills and provide a steady 16x multiplier. You can also mix and match with other rainbow leads to augment your damage output at the cost of a harder to activate multiplier.

Overall, DQXQ is an incredibly powerful monster for beginner and veteran players. Also, two is better than one and I am thankful GungHo reunited the sisters. If you wish to read a more detailed analysis on DQXQ, please check out my post dedicated to her HERE.

Raphael went from zero to hero with his new ultimate evolution and active skill rework. With an unprecedented 5 light row Light Row awakenings, he brings amazing passive damage to every row team. Looking at his other awakenings, they are somewhat lackluster as he has no bind immunity and thus makes his bind recovery Bind Clear awakening less valuable, but at least he can generate heart orbs. Raphael’s active is interesting as it allows you to create an entire board of light orbs if you bring an appropriate heart breaker (Valkyrie valkpad, Pollux Pollux, Apollo Awoken Apollo, etc.). However, with out a light orb enhance or lucky skyfalls, your damage may be somewhat capped as you do not receive any combo multiplier bonus nor additional damage from multiple row activations. However, the 2 turns of full damage void can be critical for end game content where bosses have resolve, gigantic health pools, or dangerous kill mechanics.

Raphael can be found as a stellar sub on Thor Thor / Saria Saria, Superman 2824, and healer teams provided you need the damage void and potential for high burst damage. However, for most content, you are usually better off bringing an additional orb changer.

Dark: Non-GFE

Yomi was surprisingly the most voted dark non-GFE monster and is mostly used as an incredibly powerful and hard hitting leader. However, the remaining dark cards can all be used with each other to form powerful tank teams or find themselves as subs on other popular teams. Overall, very solid rolls and each will help your develop your dark box immensely.

Man, woman, or avenging cyborg? Tsukuyomi, or Yomi, can be anything you want them to be and is an incredibly powerful leader with a 56.25x ATK multiplier. They utilize the match 5 connected orbs, 1 enhanced orb (5o1e) leader playstyle and requires 7+ combos to achieve their full multiplier. This makes them very challenging and skill intensive to use as you have to essentially maximize the board every time you wish to deal damage. However, if you are able to do this successfully, your damage output will be amazing and most likely sweep every floor. So why are they not a more popular leader? The simple answer is a lack of any survivability multiplier (HP or RCV), high skill cap/thinking required, and naturally low recovery that makes stalling difficult.

Awakenings wise, Yomi provides 1.5 seconds of additional time to move orbs (3 seconds if dual leaders) and 3 dark orb enhance Dark Orb Enhance awakenings. Together, these allow for a luxurious amount of time for comboing as well as significant damage for every dark orb match and skyfall.

As a sub, Yomi is seldom seen due to their active being somewhat underwhelming and the enhanced orbs having less synergy with row or TPA based teams. However, you can use their active to override time debuffs (think Dark Izanami’s -2s) which can be situationally useful.

To help you better chose which Pandora is right for you, please read my comparison post. Regardless of which evolution you choose, Pandora is an amazing monster as her active spawns dark and heart orbs. This can be used in conjunction with Zuoh Ult Zuoh to form a 2/3 dark orb board. Furthermore, her awakenings combine both power and utility and is welcomed on essentially every dark team. You can combine her heart making with a horizontal row of hearts to trigger 3 turns of bind removal through Bind Clear awakening and is one of the few options for removing binds on dark based teams. Granted Pandora can be bound, but it is at least an option.

Awoken Pandora Awoken Pandora is considered one of the best leads in the game because she forms a 1.56x HP / 25x ATK / 1.56x RCV for devil monsters. The 25x damage is greatly augmented through numerous dark row enhance Dark row awakenings allow her to hit some of the highest damage in the game. For further reading and information, feel free to read my Awoken Pandora Team Building Guide.

Bankai Pandora Bankai Pandora is a favoured sub on Awoken Yomi Awoken Yomi and Yomi Dragon Yomi Dragon teams as her utility oriented awakenings and double orb change allow for easier orb matching.

Overall, Pandora is one of the best cards to have duplicates of as a means to take advantage of both evolutions.

Awoken Lucifer is the savoir of the Archdemon pantheon by forming a powerful 1.82x HP / 16x ATK / 1.82x RCV lead for devil and god type monsters. This is fantastic as his sub pool consists of some of the strongest monsters in Puzzle and Dragons. He is capable of farming Arena 1 and clearing Arena 2 along with Challenge 10’s. He is also able to utilize Yomi Dragon Yomi Dragon as a sub for access to bind clearing and heart orb generation.

Awakenings wise, dual Lucifer leads provide a walloping 6 dark row Dark row awakenings and 6 skill boosts Skill Boost which ensures your actives are ready by turn 1. However, it is his God Killer God Killer awakening that is his defining feature as it allows Lucifer to deal 3x damage to god type bosses. This enables you to burst for incredible damage as you can stack multiple dark rows. In addition, you can also control your damage by choosing to not match a horizontal row of dark orbs to not trigger the row bonus and this becomes vital when facing bosses with small damage absorption shields. For further reading on how to build your Lucifer team, please refer to my full Team Building Guide.

The main drawback of Lucifer is his active as it largely goes to waste as the 150,000 true damage on a single enemy is only used to either kill off monsters with extremely high defence or push a monster who is on the cusp of a specific HP threshold. As such, an 8 turn cooldown for a 3 dark orb generation is weak and is further complicated if using him as a lead.

Akechi has been catapulted into the ranks of one of the most desired  dark monsters in the game. This is because he combines both a double orb changer and damage enhance into a single active. Furthermore, Akechi has incredible synergy with Haku Haku as you will create a 2/3 board of dark orbs that are enhanced. He also can be used in conjunction with Zuoh Ult Zuoh to form 2/3 dark board and this can be incredible on devil teams. You can find him on all high end dark teams including Yomi Dragon Yomi Dragon , Awoken Lucifer Awoken Archdemon Lucifer , and Awoken Pandora Awoken Pandora . Awoken Haku was once a critical dark sub to own due to her utility and active. Thankfully, other options have opened up, but should not diminish her value. Furthermore, her exceptionally high base recovery dramatically increases your healing potential on many dark teams. Even without any Dark row awakenings, Haku can still warrant a slot on your Awoken Archdemon Lucifer team due to her utility and explosive combo potential with Akechi Akechi . Haku can also find a home on Yomi Dragon Yomi Dragon , Awoken Yomi Awoken Yomi , and Awoken Anubis Awoken Anubis teams. Lastly, her D/D evolution DD Haku has the devil typing and can be successfully used on Awoken Pandora Awoken Pandora teams.

As a leader, Haku forms a 12.25x ATK team with 51% damage reduction from Fire, Water, and Dark enemies. Has situational uses, but is usually used as a sub.

For further reading on determining which Haku evolution is right for you, please read my Haku Evolution Path Guide.

Conclusion

This Player’s Choice Godfest features a wide array of monsters who can help populate your favourite teams with their unique utility and formidable power. For most players, this will be the most exciting Godfest for a long time and the prospect of 4x rates along with a +50 to a random stat only sweeten the deal. Just remember that the 6-star Godfest Exclusives may have low rates and your main focus should be in pursuit of the regular pantheon gods.

Who are you hoping to roll?

Happy Puzzling!

  1. Unfortunately, this PCGF is quite a bit of a bust for me. Nine new cards but, six of them are 6* GFEs. I figure it’s better if I just wait on the GFE REM to chase those. I’ll be doing one pull to have something to talk about with my IRL PAD friend but, I’m out after that.

    Like

    1. Just make sure you stop at only a single pull =P And I do agree if its mostly 6* you need, its best to wait, especially if you need other GFE that are not featured

      1. Hahaha, yeah, after seeing my result(Sakuya #11) I really want to rage pull. Managing to hold back the urge for now though. My friend’s pulls were also pretty bad. She got 4 silvers, a dupe Orochi and Isis, and her only new card was Ilm, who would be great if she actually had a Light weren’t her weakest color.

  2. I’m hoping for an Isis (for Awoken Ra team), Skuld (for I&I/Ryune team), or Light Kali (Hathor team or Awoken Ra team)

  3. Well I guess “roll 5 times and evaluate your situation” has turned into “roll everything and pray”.😂

  4. The only ones I don’t want to roll are Isis, Shiva, Sakuya, Lucifer, Pandora and I&I. The rest would be good, although some like Orochi and Susano and Indra would just be for inheritance. If I had to say which ones I want the most would be D. Kali, Ryune and Eschamelli for the sixes and Haku, Kali and Akechi for the fives. Also as it is light gala I wouldn’t mind a whole bunch of light mobs.

You should note the buff Shiva got in the stream yesterday. Not a huge deal but it helps.

    1. Well on the bright side of the ones you do not want to roll, Isis, Sakuya, and I&I are helpful as assistance monsters. Pandora dupes are still powerful on her own team or in order to have one of each evo

I wouldn’t get your hopes too high for the six stars, maybe one roll out of 10? Maybe. But Haku, Akechi, and Light Kali should make an appearance =)

I need to double check the buff he got…

      1. Yeah I have three pandoras and already sold a fourth, so really would prefer to not have more. I have two Isis as well but yeah I wouldn’t mind one as much as the others. Sakuya and I&I would just be my second so they could have some inheritance usage. Wouldn’t mind Gadius or Uriel either, maybe get lucky and go in on the Xiang Mei nonsense. Just really want to avoid Lucifer and Shiva since they’re utterly useless after one.

        Like

        1. Oh well, I dearly hope you do not keep adding to your Pandora collection XD

I&I is great for SI because she boosts water and dark so you can use her as a loki replacement for your various dark teams.

For Xiang Mei, you only want a single Gadius and 1-3 Uriel depending on how many XM you purchase

          1. Well rolled nine times. Got Raph and Blonia which is ok. Also another Luci and a bunch of crap. So other than Raph who might slot in on Saria at times when I need dmg immunity probably not a good fest like usual. I couldn’t even get random light gala people. Just rolled my typical multiple blades.

            Like

              1. The RNG spread is always big in godfests and it sounds like you got the lower end. Also, 5 rolls is not a very large amount and you should “normalize” (whatever the rates are) with more rolls.

But I know it does suck when you pull a few and its all garbage

                Like

            1. Well not sure if Blonia is any better than I&I. I have both but wish I really had an Andromeda since I lack good blue heartmakers.

              Like

              1. Blonia is stronger imo due to higher damage and much more RCV (as a team). Provided you can survive any single hit, Blonia is essentially immortal and her power is further amplified in coop where you HP is even higher. If you have a physical team, maybe start exploring Blonia. She is also a nice sub on I&I teams as a huge HP stick

                Like

                1. Well I have:
Hermes (but I already Awoken him to new form which isn’t Blonia compatabile)
                  Multiple Karins
                  Multiple Moris
                  Multiple Sumires
I&I/Sun Quan (new form might be useful)
                  Orochi
Isis (I could inherit something on to her like my extra Urd to make an 11 turn heart maker/board clear)
                  Lakshmi

Basically I lack only Ryune, Skuld and Andromeda.

Not sure if there is a team in there. Perhaps Blonia, I&I, Karin, Mori, Sumire? (I need Sumire or Lakshmi for some heart making I think) Now if I had Andromeda that would be perfect and could be worth reverting Hermes. Blonia, I&I, Karin, Andromeda, Hermes would be very strong.

                  Like

                  1. The only major downside of your cards is a lack of combo-ability off a full board changer. Thus you run the risk of a troll board. Even inheriting Urd, you still have no way to convert the hearts or fire into water. It might be easier to run an I&I/Ryune team then as you are missing Hermes, Andro, and Ryune for Blonia. You can still try the team you listed and see if it works

I&I is superior to Blodin in most cases as a sub

Your I&I team could look like: A Hermes, Mori/Blonia, Orochi, and Isis with something like Urd inherited

                    Like

                    1. Yeah that’s what I figured. It just means until I get another piece its not going to make me switch focus from my light Saria/Da Qiao teams. Unlike I&I/Blonia I do have all the Saria pieces and half fit nicely on to Da Qiao too. Oddly enough my wife rolled her third Andromeda this morning. I told her I’d trade that for my second Lucifer. :p

                      Like

                    2. Def no point in switching at this time, just something to tinker around with and skill up/invest into on the side. Blonia does make a modest SI transfer to dark teams

        1. Your dark team is clearly the strongest team you have available.

Lucifer/Haku/Akechi/Zuoh + Loki/Persephone/Castor (flex) is very strong. Probably Loki most often, but Persephone could be good too considering you have Akechi.

Any of several teams there should be able to farm KoG. Heck your Amaterasu team should be able to do it now. (the Luci team with some levels will be able to be able to do it very easily)

But for now Amaterasu/Apollo/Zhuge Liang/Raphael/Echidna should be able to take care of it easily, although I’d like to put a Valk in there somewhere for more orb changing.

Or your blue team with Orochi subbed in. Eg: Andromeda, Hatsume, Isis, Orochi, Blue Valk. I’d slap some orb changer on Isis though to make it more consistent since you don’t need her bind recovery most of the time. Maybe Nut or U&Y.

Either way save your delay for Zeus and blow up the other 2 before they hit you.

          1. Hello Bastian! Glad you found your way over here and are actively commenting =)

Your rolls are quite potent and as mentioned above, your dupes are invaluable for skill inheritance.

Looking at your monster box, you have quite a few strong teams outside of the recommendations Kasi made:

Awoken Shiva lead with Hino, Cao Cao, Yamato/Uriel, and Gadius if you need a board refresh. Sub in Pheonix rider for shields as needed.

Sakuya lead with Kali, Apollo, Susano, and flex sub as needed

However, your dark team potential with Lucifer is by far the strongest as you have Zuoh, Haku, and Akechi for massive wombo-combo burst. That team with modest investment should make short work of Zues in KoG

  9. I pulled 4 times thinking that at that rate I should be able to pull at least one God I did not have and wanted to fill in some gaps on some teams or such. Of course even though there are 14 monsters that I do not have and would love to have from this fest I pull my 3rd Raphiel, followed by my 3rd Lucifer, at least I finished my Chinese god set with Karin the next pull (going to skill inherit to my Awoken Lucifer to combo with Pandora), and Viper Orochi which was one of the two gods I really really wanted, (akechi being the other one) as my water subs are very limited. At least I did not pull my 6th Haku (I seem to pull it regardless of the gala and godfest).

    Arthur (dupe)

    A lucifer (number three)

  12. Hello! I recently started and I’ve been having a lot of fun! My first pull was GZL and he was able to rocket me right up into the near end game stuff, but I’ve hit a wall. I’ve saved the bulk of my free stones for this godfest and bought one of the 30 packs and rolled some super cool guys, but I am a bit stuck with how to get this team into viability. I pulled Ra, Two LKali’s, Isis, DQXQ and some other pretty good stuff. I see from guides that I have a pretty cool Ra team going on but to make him wake up I need to get some sphinx action from the descend, which I got my butt handed to me when I last tried. Could you look at my PADHerder and tell me if there is a super team I’m missing or if I should be ignoring the heck out of my rainbow super force and just keep jamming with GZL. You have a fantastic blog by the way and you’re the number one site I use, you’re jazzed about playing and that’s what matters most.

    1. I am glad you enjoy my site/content =D

The thing about Ra is that you can use him to clear all the content required to awaken him. Furthermore, you have two light kalis who are instrumental to his success. However, if you feel his skill ceiling is too high, you can lead with DQXQ and throw in your two kali and GZL for full colour coverage. You can then add in a flex sub as needed to counter whatever dungeon you are facing.

      Hope this helps =)

      1. It does! Thank you sir! I will use DQXQ a few times in endless until I am better at making more than 4 green orbs slam into place.

  13. Wanted akechi and Uriel, maybe Raphael.
Rolled a Blonia and two Hakus to start but it was a s*** show from there. 13 rolls, one 6*gfe, one silver.

  14. So I have the willpower of a noodle when it’s godfest and I have stones on hand, especially when bad rolls give you 50 stones. So I rolled a few more times. Got a decent amount of crap along with third I&I and second Yomi. However I did get an Alcyone which is nice for my light team since it gives me another two SBR option other than Amaterasu and for doing regular dungeons and most others would rather have a more offensive mob than Ama. What I did get though was Eschamali. So I now have a 297 Escha who is perfect fit on my Lucifer team.

    1. I like noodles and it’s almost dinner time….

Alcyone is quite powerful on row teams as their double orb change combined with orb enhances help with your overall burst.

And BIG Congrats to you and your new Eschamali!!

  15. Is there any reason to keep a second Raph? Thinking I am better off either taking the +50 or selling to fund eventual purchase of Ra Dragon (realized I am sitting on a dream team of subs with 2 D Kali, Isis and Indra).

    1. He can be valuable for skill inheritance as it’s 100% damage void from all damage (not sure a specific colour like the elementals). I’d hold on to him for now

      1. Hmm. Was thinking that even fully skilled (my current isn’t), that would seem to leave it awfully situational–adding the base monster’s counter to it makes it seem hard to access. But I guess in those situations it could have some big value. Will hang onto it for the time being. Thx.

        1. You are very welcome and i know it’s a long wait, but he does his job incredibly well and you only need to use once. Also, you can easily dump the charging if you need to use the base monster as your window is so big

  16. I have a question for you sir, do you ever do team ups to run the MP dungeons with newer players? I have this cool Orochi that I pulled but I found out that skilling the dang thing up is going to be super difficult without the MP dungeons.

      1. My apologies! I meant the Multiplayer Dungeons, farming them looks to be a great way to find the little guys!
