Gremory & Ronove Overview and Sample Team Building

Introduction

The Island Luau Godfest comes in tandem with the release of two new Godfest Exclusives: Gremory Gremory and Ronove Ronove. Both these leaders bring a new twist to the heart-cross patterns and are capable of clearing end game content. The purpose of this post is to quickly summarize and theory craft teams for these two new top tier leaders.

Just keep in mind that the heart cross shield/additional multiplier carries over on a floor sweep. This means it will protect you from preemptive strikes but also retains the additional multiplier if there is no preemptive of any kind.

Pros:

  • Active has great synergy with leader skill on a 6 turn CD
  • 1,000 weighted stats
  • 144x ATK with heart cross and active skill
  • Some damage control with either 4x, 36x, or 144x ATK
  • Very easy 144x ATK
  • Can effectively stack dark rows Dark row
  • Leaders are bind immune and can clear binds
  • Devils and balance cards have a large pool to draw from
  • Modest uses as a sub and one of the few bind clearing dark cards
  • 56.75% damage reduction effectively means over 2x HP/RCV
  • Very pretty with her hood on

Cons:

  • No sub attribute means diminished damage and only 10 total damage from the team versus super high defense monsters
  • A lack of time extends Time Extend for a team that requires complicated matching
  • Cannot use Gods as effectively
  • Active skill clause for max damage
  • The Camel needs to be photo-shopped out

Team Building

Gremory requires Devil or Balance type subs maximum attack multiplier. However, 36x ATK is still respectable and you could get away using other type subs if they bring tremendous value to your team. In order to form a system that can use 1 active every turn requires 4 cards with a 7 or less cooldown that has a haste component. You can use the search term 冥瞳の魔神爵・グレモリー to find more inspiration on YouTube. Using Multiple Xin Hua Xin Hua aids in cycling your actives and having multiple dupes can be advantageous.

Due to a somewhat smaller sub pool, you will need to utilize Skill Inheritance to help fill in the voids in active skill utility.

As mentioned above, you can use a non-devil/balance card IF they bring significant utility or value to your team. Just be aware they will not be receiving the full multiplier on active skill usage.

Overview for Gremory

Overall, Gremory is a powerful leader who is capable of clearing any content that Puzzle and Dragons has to offer. Her somewhat constricted sub pool can be frusterating at times; however, with the advent of Skill Inheritance, you are able to fill in the gaps. Her main drawback is the active skill clause that will become more detrimental in longer/harder content.

16x ATK with heart cross and 2 or less colours
9x ATK with no heart cross and 4+ colours

Pros:

  • Active has a very short cooldown and spawns hearts. Can use every 2/3 turns with dual leaders
  • Excels dungeons with jammer and poison orbs
  • 144x ATK with heart cross and 4 colours
  • Has good damage control
  • Considered one of the best leaders in the game
  • 56.75% damage reduction effectively means over 2x HP/RCV
  • Plays a guitar and is auditioning for America’s Got Talent

Cons:

  • No sub attribute means diminished damage and only 10 total damage from the team versus super high defense monsters
  • Vulnerable to binds
  • Full activation may be daunting for newer players/teams with low time extend
  • Ideal team is challenging to build
  • Ugly…but kinda cool

Team Building

Ronove is a combination of a heart cross and rainbow leader. This seems daunting at first, except that his ideal team has an outrageous amount of time extend to help you move orbs into position. However, your first goal should be covering all the elements and that can be challenging as Ronove lacks a sub element. As such, you do not need to have every sub be on-colour. You can do your own research by using the following search term on YouTube: 爆叫の魔伯爵・ロノウェ.

Ronove’s team building is quite wide open provided you bring subs who do not break heart orbs. Having access to at least one full board changer is ideal. As stated above, your main goal should be covering all your required colours and then worrying about utility/power.

Some noteworthy cards to consider are the Rogue Descend bosses Gainaut Gainut and Linthia Linthia. Both provide a full board change along with covering various attributes while spawning poison or jammer orbs. Normally, this would be a problem; however, with Ronove’s active, you are guarenteed 5+ heart and 6+ wood orbs. They also have the Coop Bonus Multiplayer Bonus awakening which increases their base stats by 50% when playing in multiplayer.

Rozuel Rozuel covers the awkward fire and water element along with being bind immune with a recover bind Bind Clear awakening awakening and heart orb generating active. She also has triple TPA TPA which can help you achieve huge damage on 144x ATK.

Overview for Ronove

Ronove is capable of forming a nearly unstoppable team that is capable of clearing any dungeon GungHo can create. He tends to excel in harder content that produces jammer and poison orbs as those are quickly converted into wood. In addition, you can use his active 2/3 turns and this greatly increases your survivability. Unfortunately, his ideal team is challenging to form and less perfect line ups may falter and be less forgiving compared to other leaders.

  1. Ronove is odd because he’s a 5* GFE so he’s not exactly rare but then you realize you need RagDrag (who is TECHNICALLY “farmable”) and Kaede x5000000 and well that plan goes out the window.

On the other hand Gremory is rare as *#%@*#)!# but her subs aren’t all 6* GFEs.

    1. Yeah, I’m surprised they released a powerful 5* card that can keep up or outpace 6* and MP cards. Granted you need those to form the ideal team, but it’s a start?

I wish Gremory kept her hood =(

    2. For full board changers you could also include Gainaut as a farmable option. His awakenings aren’t ideal (lots of enhanced fire orb), but it also includes the ever so attractive multi-boost. Like Linthia his active combos with Ronove and he also covers two attributes on your team! I just really want a use for Gainaut…

      1. Good point! I added in a section expanding the rationale of gainaut and linthia and their role as a board changer

I have a max skilled linthia and possibly gainaut too but yet to use lok

  2. Gremory is a male demon who dresses up like a human female to earn the trust of other women so he can prey on them.

      1. The back story for Gremory and the many of the new Devils is outlined in a grimoire called “The Lesser Key of Solomon”. It appears that he is often depicted as being a beautiful woman riding a camel. He/she is also a duke that rules over twenty-six legions of demons.

          1. Gender bending at its best. Goetian grimoires were under the impression that all demons were male, Gung-ho felt otherwise 😀

                  1. The Akechi Mitsuhide awakening they recently announced is all the male fan service I needed. Though the new collaboration looks hilarious, I hope we get it as well.

                    1. He’s just so viable on so many teams. Good synergy with any full board changer, really decent awakenings, and now he has a better body to boot.

Some straight up nostalgia right there, Ultimate Muscle was one of my favorite shows as a kid.

    1. Congrats on the Ronove!

      As for subs:
      -Odin or Sakuya for binds
However, I am finding it hard to find subs for you outside of maybe Perseus (still need to cover lots of elements)

Ronove is a powerful leaders, but is very unfriendly in terms of teambuilding. You can always farm up a Gainaut or Linthia (or both) and use Sakuya for water and persues and that is a team.

      1. Yes, I was happy to pull him, but after reading through your list (and having you verify that I was correct!) I think he’ll be hanging out in my box for awhile until I find some appropriate friends for him.
        Thank you for your reply!

  3. I think Fat Chocobo should be on the list for full board changer.
I don’t have DKali, Sherias Roots, or RagDra, so I have been using Fat Chocobo in their place.

    1. The best ones are Lintha and Gainaut but that could be problematic as they are L-M+ and both quite challenging

I would simply use your strongest cards available or use a different team as Ronove is very sub dependant

  4. There’s also Yamatsumi who’s got a very useful active and helps cover light when you don’t have Kaede, which I don’t..

  5. Finished reading this overview and I noticed you didn’t have lightning from the ff collab listed. Would she not be useful as well on a ronove team? If not for possible skill inheritance?

    1. I must have forgot to c/p their icon in. They do work wonderfully well, but less ideal compared to other board changers due to less colour coverage and diverse awakenings

  6. hi Mantastic, great review!
i got Ronove on this GF and i would like to know if im in the right path to a good team composition. I have isis, astaroth, gadius and sherias(blue). I know that isis and astaroth are great with him, but i dont see gadius or sherias as great subs on your list. Why not? orb change with heal and orb time.

    Like

    1. Gadius does not produce wood and that means you are automatically losing out on your leader’s damage. Even 144x becomes more diluted when you have the wrong colours attacking

Sherias does not produce hearts so that is problematic.

  7. hmmi got Gremory do u think i should purchase Xin Hua and do a team like Gremory,A,Haku or Zuoh,Bankai Pandora (can try for A. Pandora),Xin Hua and A.Tsuki Yomi ? i have a Z8 but he needs some work.

    Like

    1. Uuevo pandora has dual time extend so that is very appealing. Haku isn’t a devil or balance so run Zuoh (but he doesn’t make hearts). No real need to yomi, better with an orb changer. Xin Hua is very powerful.

However, do you like the playstyle?

  8. cross heart leader are areally funny and powerfull as long u have a heart cross
i enjoy currently my Myr (Miru) eventhough i sometimes fail to do a heartcross xD and i thought only about yomi cuz 3 TE and 3 OE aint much but could be good cuz a Gremory,Ichigo,Bankai Pandora and a Xin only have together 5 TE Ichigo and Yomi together gives Bonus time Movement so it aint bad i think Ichigo 1,5x for 1 turn and yomi is 5sec and enhance all orbs both have a 8 turn wait on max skill thats my only thought for orb changer i need a 2nd Pandora when i would get 1 i will switch it for yomi

    Like

    1. If you are in bad need of time extend, then feel free to use Yomi. I would swap to an orb changer once you feel confident in your matching skill as that will be somewhat the limiting factor once orb manipulation is covered

      Like

    1. Your team looks reasonable and I am glad you thought of using the farmable options! If you have the MP, I would consider purchasing a Ragnarok Dragon and replacing 1 Linthia.

Of course, only do this if you really like the playstyle!

  10. What do you think of this team, I only have 30k MP and started about 6 weeks ago:

Ronove / Rozuel / Sumire / Metatron / Awoken Hades

I can’t seem to roll a Kaede for the life of me and was considering farming Green Earth’s Dimension Dragon just in case.

I do have enough monsters that I could sell all but Ronove and Rozuel for another 220k MP, but that would still leave me 40k short of a Ragnarok Dragon. This would mean selling Jade Dragon Caller, Sonia, Sherias, Sumire, Saria, Gadius, 2x L.Kali, Metatron, Rurouni, Barbossa, Liu Bei, Hades, Lucifer, King Arthur, Guan Yu and more.

      1. I changed the display name as it shows both coming from the same email so hopefully that works =)

As for your question, I would never sell off your entire box to purchase an MP card. You are extremely new to PAD and you still have plenty of content to play through and experience. Even though Ronove is strong, you will have sellers/buyers remorse by selling non-dupes.

I would stick with your current team for now, it should be able to clear nearly everything you face at the moment and you will eventually be able to start farming MP by playing rogue descends.

  11. Rolled Gremory today with a single REM roll 🙂
Unlike Ronove, I’ve got some useful subs for her: Hanzo (2x), Lumiel (sadly unskilled), APandora, Bankai Pandora, Lu Bu plus a Voice I’m working on and a plethora of dark devils and gods (DMeta, ALucifer, Zuoh, Hamal, AHaku, D/DHaku…), some advice to team building?

    Like

    1. I would use both Pandora for sure

Then it becomes a bit harder, but if that is Awoken Lucifer, he can be used as a base for an inherit and your final sub could be Hanzo for fast orb generation.

      1. Thanks for your advice, I’ll give a try with Gremory/APandora/BPandora/Hanzo/ALuci to do some practice with heart-crossing.
(I’m waiting in SI Aluci, he’s sadly unskilled 😦 )

I want an Akechi so badly, I’ll save any single stone ’til the next GF that features Samurai Gods! ^^’

Another Question: Is it too foolish to invest my 300k MP in a Xin Hua? (I’d also like to use her as a Lead, but I haven’t got the right sub, just Gremory)

        Like

        1. If anything, Xin Hua would be a sub on Gremory teams (better to use Grem as a lead) to give yourself an additional orb changer. However, it is an expensive investment and you may be better off not buying her as it is a small upgrade at best

  12. In the case where I don’t have Typhon or Pandora, would it be accpetable to use Eschamali and DMeta with a Ishida Mitsunari inherited on it?

I am currently thinking of this team:
    Gremory / Gremory / Akechi / Eschamali / something

  13. Gremory’s buff (as seen on puzzledragonx):
    * +400 HP
    * Added bind recovery and 2 more rows for awoken skills
    * Added God typing and LS support to normal verison.
    * Added Balanced typing and LS support to xmas version.

Both LS now 2x ATK to God, Devil, and Balanced types after using a skill. 6x ATK and 35% damage reduction with cross Heal.

Nice, a large sub pool, more hp, two more rows and – ehr – hard & soft bind clearing? A row and a cross of hearts on the same turn? O_o

Time to play with her again 🙂

    Like

    1. I didn’t consider her as a sub ^^’

I could swap out my DMeta(SDK) from my ALuci team: one more row, one TE, some extra dark orbs & hearts generation, nearly 1500 hp and 270 rcv more at the cost of an unused shield+orb enhancement, two SB and 230 atk

Also, as a devil, I could try her in my APandora team (UEPandora, Zuoh, D/DHaku, Lu Bu) in Lu Bu’s slot as a bind clearer/row enhancer.

  14. Hey mantastic. End game opinions needed on dealing with Kali in Arena 1. Essentially just lacking the extra Kaede for a perfect team, but even with a Balboa or D-Kali in its place I cant seem to get past floor 20

Thoughts? Should I just try to output more damage and hope to get through? or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

    Like

    1. You should try and use a damage enhancing inherit. Even a 2x such as Awoken Freyja would be helpful as the boost lasts for 2 turns. This means you can use it on floor 19 to kill it easier and still retain the damage for Kali on floor 20. Gemstone princesses are better so use what you have available

  15. Hey Mantastic,

I’m currently using a Ronove team,

    Ronove /Perseus /Rozuel/Wukong/Halloween Parvati.

I’ve been playing with the line up for a while since I can’t roll a Kaede and can’t afford a Ragnarok.

The other subs I use are Verdandi,Sumire, and Sherias Roots.

What I struggle mostly is getting that light and dark into the team to make it full rainbow.

    Do you have any recommendations?

    Thank you!

    Like

    1. I would use Sherias Roots as they are Light/Dark and fulfils the board changing requirement. Thus, you can drop Wukong and Halloween Parvati and bring a sub of your choice. Could be another mono-wood card for additional damage
