Pantheon & GFE Tier List – April 4, 2017

Introduction

I have begun to utilize my own tier list for both the featured Pantheon Gods and GFE every Godfest and I felt it would be appropriate to have a master list available at all times. This list will be updated through a new post as buffs/evos are announced or as I do a subsequent Godfest review that has me change the rankings.

It is my hope that this list will become a quick reference source for players who are newer to the game as they can quickly see where their new cards rank/place. Part of my desire to do this is from my starting journey in Fire Emblem Heroes and constantly referencing their respective tier list.

These opinions are my own and take into consideration the card’s value as a leader, sub, inherit, and possibly any niche role they fulfill. In order to rank in the highest tier, the card has to excel in their respective role and cannot feasibly be replaced by anyone else. This can also be thought of as a Best in Slot card and tends to have applications on the top tier teams. If a card has a split evolution path, I simply evaluate the best option possible.

If you are thinking about purchasing a Monster Point card, please refer to my tier list and review HERE.

Legend guide

Symbols condense the time spent processing information and here is a brief explanation for each one I will use:

The best of the best. These cards compromise a best in slot role on top tier teams. They are largely irreplaceable and tend to offer something unique that cannot be easily replicated. This mostly exists to showcase the jump in power between the rest of the cards available.

download download

All of the cards in this tier bring tremendous value to a variety of teams as either leaders, subs, or inherits that are challenging to mimic elsewhere. For example, Green Odin 3390 remains one of the strongest bind clears and only card that can remove 5 turns of awoken skill binds (outside of Odin Dragon 3264). It may not be paramount to your success, but is well worth owning overall.

This category indicates cards that have value, but are not as widely used/irreplaceable as the above tier(s). While they may make your life easier and still bring an additional layer of power to your team, they are far from necessary. With that being said, some of these cards could hold the key to your own teams as everyone has different tools to work with.

Cards in the question mark category tend to be those that are a luxury and are often not widely used for the average player. With that being said, they may bring niche value to your monster box or provide an additional option to use. A great example of this is Red Odin 3392 who is a premiere button farming option, but with the addition of Red Tamazo 3162, players at least have a “farmable” poison inherit along with the future implementation of Descend inherits.

x

This category indicates the bottom of the Puzzle and Dragons barrel. These cards tend to have almost minimal value as they simply do not fit in the current meta and are badly in need of a buff or new evolution to give them viability. With that being said, you should still keep them as they technically have the most potential for improvement (think Light Metatron Metatron)

This arrow indicates if a card has moved up since the last posting/tier list. The category/bracket they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved up (eg. 2 will indicate they climbed up two rankings).

This takes into consideration the gold star, blue square, and purple orb symbols.

arrow-down-red-300px

This arrow indicates if a card has moved down since the last posting/tier list. The category they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved down (eg. 2 will indicate they were demoted down by two rankings).

This takes into consideration the gold star, blue square, and purple orb symbols.

A gold star indicates that these cards are relatively stronger than the other cards in that respective tier bracket and are trying to move up and may do so if a minor buff or new card/evo is released that can full capitalize on their strengths.

The blue square indicates that the card is in the middle of their respective tier bracket. This does not exist for download download download tier

A purple orb indicates that this card is relatively weaker than the others in their respective tier bracket and are on the cusp of being demoted.

Pantheon Rankings

If there is a split evolution, I simply choose and evaluate the better one. Due to the fact that I have only 5 tiers, there will naturally be differences in an individual tier, but the gold star , blue square , and purple orb  help provide some additional ranking within each tier. Otherwise, cards simply appear in the order I find them in my master Copy/Paste icon list. Generally speaking, cards that have Reincarnated evolutions tend to be ranked higher due to the triple typing and 1,000 weighted stats.

Some icons may show an older evolution as the cards being just announced in JP may or may not have a respective page on Padx.

To repeat, the cards within each ranking appear in the order I find them in my C/P master list and do not mean one is vastly superior to the other within the same bracket.

Comments & notable cards

Just because your favourite card does not rank as high as you may hope it does, this should not be cause for alarm as they may still bring your own individual monster box tremendous value and may be crucial to your own success.

 Reincarnated Haku

Haku’s new reincarnated form is tremendously powerful and it is now almost a running joke that if your team can run 2-3 of her, it will be powerful and possibly top tier.

 Reincarnated Kushinadahime

Reincarnated Kush has emerged as a top tier leader due to her durability, high damage output, the ability to use Haku, perfect damage control, as well as the ease in which she can incorporate the new guard break awakening into her roster. Her team building is also not reliant on 6-star GFE so that is another bonus for players who have less than perfect monster boxes.

    Hereos are heroic

The Heroes pantheon are now the strongest pantheon available through their new split evolutions that allow you to perfectly customize them to your liking. Now boasting stronger active skills and awakenings, they can almost always find a home on most teams.

 Ruel

Be careful who you call weak in second evolution form as Ruel has been transformed from zero to hero through an incredible revamp to her leader skill and kit. She is now able to form a powerful 2.25x HP / 56.25x ATK / 2.25x RCV for Attacker when matching wood and dark orbs. While this may feel underwhelming, you have to remember that you can efficiently stack TPA and 7 combo 45 awakenings while having bind immune leaders.

GFE Rankings

As of now, I do not feel the need to include the gold star , blue square , and purple orb  mini tiers in the GFE list as it is already quite small by comparison. Cards appear in no particular order and simply reflect their appearance in my master icon list.

Notable changes

Ult Kaede Kaede

Perhaps I am a bit traumatized from the Sphinx ranking dungeon, but I was honestly thinking of demoting Kaede Ult Kaede in the previous Godfest. However, being able to actually play her and experience just how orb hungry solidified my point of view. Kaede desperately requires numerous orbs for success and without two wood combos (ideally with TPA), your damage falls somewhat flat. While the heart cross is naturally powerful, it is hard to justify when her multiplier requires too many orbs to ramp up efficiently. By comparison, Myr Miru only requires a heart cross for full activation and will be both easier and faster when playing through a dungeon.

Many people may argue that a Kaede system is amazing, and that holds true for most content, but falls flat in end game content. A system requires both solo mode and 4 dedicated actives to efficiently cycle an active every turn. This only leave 2 for utility/counters to mechanics and becomes nearly impossible when running through the hardest dungeons.

With all that being said, Kaede is still a stellar sub for mono-wood teams as she offers triple TPA and the ability to guarantee three wood and heart orbs. This will help bolster your favourite team as she also offers time extend Time Extend and orb enhance Enhanced Wood Orb awakenings.

 Dark Metatron

On the other hand, Dark Metatron’s new evolution transforms her into a 2.25x HP / 81x ATK / 2.25x RCV team when under 80% HP (think 70k+ HP in solo mode). This dramatically widens her threshold level and enables her to better control her damage and not run the risk of running too low on health. While the RCV may seem counter intuitive, it will actually facilitate easier stalling and control as she has the no skyfall clause. No skyfalls are perhaps one of the strongest mechanics in the game as you always have perfect damage control and have no one to blame but yourself to unwanted matched combos. Another bright aspect of Dark Metatron is Durga’s new evolution that only cuts HP by 50% while providing 2.5x ATK burst for 3 turns.

 Light Metatron

Despite these changes feeling impressive, the largest surprise was Light Metatron Metatron being dramatically upgraded to a meta status. Light Metatron has been the butt-end of jokes for years now (I can actually say years due to the longevity of PAD) as she simply fell off most viability after a year or so of her debut. However, GungHo has finally heard our cries and Light Metatron is now able to form a 506x ATK / 6.25x RCV for Gods. Light Metatron is now a light cross leader with each cross adding 3x ATK while having a passive 2.25x ATK at all times.

While Light Metatron will not be as powerful as Aizen 3359 due to the fact that the passive multiplier is dramatically lower and a weaker base active, this is still an amazing boost to her viability and probably makes her one of the strongest 5-star GFE available.

Light Metatron’s main down side will be her lack of an HP multiplier and orb hungry nature as a single light cross (5 orbs) will only result in 56.25x ATK. While this may be sufficient for many floors in Arena 3, it may run into some troubles if you do not stack enough enhanced light orb +light orb awakenings.

Another point to consider is her dramatic drop in RCV as she now becomes attacker, but this is perfectly acceptable due to the 6.25x RCV. Finally, her artwork is 11/10.

Conclusion

There are countless cards available in Puzzle and Dragons and it can be challenging to rank each of them against one another. As such, this list will fluctuate and change as new cards are released or buffs are announced.

Let me know what you think about this tier list and who you think should be higher or lower.

Happy Puzzling!

    1. He has one of the best (probably the best) shield in the game. It is a complete 2 turn damage void and generates a full board of hearts, thus allowing you to heal and not take any damage for 2 turns.

  1. What puts Perseus and Andromeda at the top two spots on the tier list? I can imagine their flexibity to be insanely useful and definitely top tier, but placing them above the Jewel princesses, Liu Bei, the rest of their pantheon and other utility cards is a bit surprising

    1. Ordering within a ranking is simply how I have it in my C/P list and the order it happens to appear there and does not mean they are #1 and 2. It just means the hero pantheon happens to be at the top of my master list of icons.

I have a disclaimer above the table

    1. I’m not Mantastic, but Light Kali is bad mostly due to the fact that the top rainbow leads need hearts, which she doesn’t make, and her multiplier is too low to be a decent leader.

Also, her stats aren’t very good.

  2. What makes Yamato so much better than Sanada. I personally have found that enhancing reds more useful than enhancing hearts, which he looses in his awoken form for an off-color poison clear. I would have placed them both in double check star personally, but am curious about why you placed them where you did.

  3. I guess you did this to avoid countless questions from future godfest and the 2 pulls for rank150/250..which is really great, thank you for using the jp evo that we dont have…as it gives people an insight on what to save and what to sell if needed, personally im mad cause Anubis is not high enough and he is great (lol), but jokes aside Ruel seems like a good card to get hopes for, Gungho is trying to bring life to those crappy pantheons with these new evos, and man am I happy about the whole 7 combo awakening usage, new meta is going to be purely about making combos, which sounds really cool, the game will be about skill one more time, and not about a random mechanic…so good job man keep it up!!!

    1. It is partially for that and to have a template for future GF articles =P As for combos and the changing meta, I do feel GH is trying to push 7c more for sure.

As for Anubis, sure he can clear plenty of content, but the 8+ combos and active skill clause are somewhat limiting

  4. Can you do a tier of the best leaders? and i think I would be a better idea to rank them in Grades like A, A+ B-, instead of checks and symbols. As for this post, it’s mantastic! Great post! Look forward to see more.

    1. I actually like the checkmark system is better than the A+ B- C? system. It feels more universal for one thing, and I like how it’s different from the other systems out there. It shows the thoughtfulness of Mantastic. Also, evaluating a card based on their overall usage helps a ton. There are times where I will switch out leaders (Minerva/Ilm/Saria, or Sun Quan/Hermes) and place the previous leader as a sub.

  5. Quick question. How long does it normally take to get the jp evos in na? I was really excited seeing the new evos as it will open new doors for team comps I can currently make.

  6. If possible, you should separate the tier list into leaders and subs, which would make each godfest easier to analyze for more people.

  7. I own 3 Haku (and a Kush), time to work on them! 😀
Question: should I keep one AHaku (staple for Aizen, I’m also keeping my D/BMeta for him) and Revo the other two?

And wow, a nice LMeta with some similarities with my beloved Aizen

    Like

    1. If you plan to heavily use Aizen, yes keep some of your cards D/W in order to actually have RCV

Also, it is quite costly to revo so many Haku as you really need 16m to max level each one again

Also, while LMeta is stronger, Aizen pretty much outclasses her in every way

        <a title=”Red Odin” href=”http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/monster.asp?n=3392″><img src=”https://mantasticpadblog.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/3392.png?w=20&h=20″ alt=”Picture of Red Odin”></a>

I hope I have that right and it doesn’t just look like a jumble of noise! The “title” text should show up when you hover over the icon, and the “alt” text is there so something is still visible if the image doesn’t load.

        1. I only go into HTML to c/p embed codes or table codes from a different website and it mostly just looks like a mess to me…this will be tough to implement overall…

Edit: I did manage to get it to work for Red Odin, but I will either have to redo my entire list of 100s of icons or use search to find and pray I do it properly for every icon still…I swear there has to be a more user friendly way to do this

  9. Hey mantastic! Great article, as always, it helps five some perspective over what teams have a lot of potential.

The one thing is I wish you weren’t so quick to write off jammer meta. Yes, Fenrir is kind of glass canon-y at the moment, but with upcoming buffs to Fenrir and Viz, if you pair them togeher as leaders they’re much tankier, much less reliant on jammer making actives, and easier to activate. There’s plenty of damage control, and some pretty decent farmable team options. Above all, they’re fun to play and can clear endgame content as well many of the other higher tier leads.

    Like

    1. I have elevated Fenrir Viz, but Fenrir is still just a glass cannon that has a steep activation requirement. The main downfall of jammer teams is the relatively shallow sub pool as GH tends to be loathe to release jammer generation actives as they don’t fit on other teams

Also, what kind of end game content and are we talking about a hail-mary style clear or is it consistent?

      Like

      1. Fenrir teams don’t tend to need more than the leader fenrirs and one other jammer maker to have consitent jammer flow due to Fenrir’s natural skyfall and short cooldown. In higher level content where many spawns make jammers, this is even more true. Most fenrir teams are pretty consistent in just packing utilities like bind clears, shields, and delays. Since its a rainbow team, there’s plenty of room to be flexible. I actually think it’s far more flexible than viz as a lead since its neither type nor colour restricted. Not to mention there are a good amount of farmable jammer makers, and people pulling way too many fenrirs in godfests 😉

This one reddit user clears everything with fenrir, and while I dont have his dedication, it makes for a fun arena clear. I would never use it for farming, but it’s a good challenge and breaks up the monotony of more popular heart crossers. It’s also conducive to high combo counts .https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/search?q=comeonnjam&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

Perhaps you could re-evaluate when the buffs come to NA that make Fenrir’s leader skill easier to activate and active skill to 4cd. FenrirxViz leaders post-buff will be a bit tankier without sacrificing too much damage.

the GFE tier list especially is a really handy tool. there’s so many pantheons and different teams have such different subs that a tier list for pantheons outside of their LS can sometimes feel a bit moot, but still a useful tool for at least starting a discussion.

why place yamato below the rest of his friends, and why place wukong/revo pandora so highly? 😮

Andro is used on every water team (esp with new ult) and perseus becomes amazing with his 7c and tpa form.

WK becomes bind immune and now has a new board change combo with new gfe and pandora can still form a formidible lead along with having a beneficial active for every dark team

  11. Hello Mantastic,

First time poster and wanted to say thank you for all that you do and these ranking tables look great. I do have a question though, and this in regard to the recent U.S. release of Reincarnated Indra. How do you feel on how Reincarnated Indra will compete as a leader? I feel that he has the potential to be strong but I do not know if 49x attack will cut it. On the other side, dark athena has 49x attack and is a top tier leader.

I want to see more out of Indra as his new form looks amazing and I love the idea of Light/Dark dragon styled team that he has going for him. Do you also think with the meta shifting to this combo type style, that Indra (or even Vritra) might recieve a change to awakenings to add a 7 combo boost awakening?

I know this is all speculation, but I would love to see more on Indra/Vritra and hear what you have to say, or even an article dedicated to them. Anyway, more or less I wanted to hear your opinions and thoughts on these two a little more in depth. I thank you for your time and hope you have a great day.

    1. Glad you came out of lurking Eric =P

As for Indra/Vritra, their main problem is the restrictive typing as you are forced to use Dragons and they have conflicting awakenings (rows & TPA) as well as having 1 card always being off-colour. All of this dilutes your overall damage and is further complicated by a lack of bind immunity.

As such, I still feel that Indra will be mostly used as an inherit in his L/L form

  13. Can you explain to me why the new andromeda evo is so strong? As a sub with her 2 tpa and the 7c awakenings I can see how she would do a lot of dmg but there are no good tpa based leaders besides rukia, as far as I know there are also not many good orb changers to combo the green orbs from her AS and as a leader i felt that she lacks consistency as it would be hard to get 7 combos while matching a heart cross
    Please and thank you

    1. You can use her in either form and presently, her B/B form is used on every single strong water team (double SBR & awakenings/skill etc) so she is somewhat irreplaceable. While the new evo expands her capacity, you at least have the choice to go for either one
