Monster Bootcamp Part 1Godfest Review and Analysis

Godfest basics

When making the decision to roll or save your magic stones, you need to determine if the featured pantheons can benefit or complement your teams. Chasing for one specific monster is unwise as you will most likely be disappointed and should ideally have Godfests that overlap with many target cards. Remember all monsters that come out of the REM will qualify for Skill Inheritance so do not be too hasty when selling dupes. For a more detailed team building help, please refer to my Popular Leader’s and their Full Sub List Post which is in the process of being updated. Lastly, to find more information about a specific pantheon or monster, refer to my Master List to better refine your search. If you are considering to purchase any of the Monster Point cards, please refer to my updated Tier List for help and advice.

I also encourage you to visit my discord Discord server as it is full of knowledgeable and friendly people.

Introduction

The Monster Bootcamp Part 1 Godfest features the first 6x rates for Pantheons and GFE along with actually featuring powerful cards overall.

Furthermore, each roll will yield +50 to a random stat as well as appearing at level 50.

In addition, Day 1 will feature a complimentary Tamadra with each roll (hooray?) while Day 2 will coincide with the Wisedragons and Heroic Warriors Carnival. This Carnival will feature 2x rates for the following cards:

  Heroic Warriors

Wise Dragons (5x burst for respective colour)

Regardless, the collateral perks on either day are slim to say the least and all the focus will be on the truly exciting Pantheon and GFE line up.

Ranking the cards – Pantheons & GFE

These rankings I assign cards are my own and take into consideration the card’s value as a leader, sub, inherit, and possibly any niche role they fulfill. In order to rank in the highest tier, the card has to excel in their respective role and cannot feasibly be replaced by anyone else. This can also be thought of as a Best in Slot card and tends to have applications on the top tier teams.

Despite my best to remain neutral, there is always the potential for bias and you need to be able to examine a card and determine if it can benefit your unique Monster Box and situation.

Legend guide

Symbols condense the time spent processing information and here is a brief explanation for each one I will use:

S

The best of the best. These cards compromise a best in slot role on top tier teams. They are largely irreplaceable and tend to offer something unique that cannot be easily replicated. This mostly exists to showcase the jump in power between the rest of the cards available.

A

All of the cards in this tier bring tremendous value to a variety of teams as either leaders, subs, or inherits that are challenging to mimic elsewhere. For example, Green Odin 3390 remains one of the strongest bind clears and only card that can remove 5 turns of awoken skill binds (outside of Odin Dragon 3264). It may not be paramount to your success, but is well worth owning overall.

B

This category indicates cards that have value, but are not as widely used/irreplaceable as the above tier(s). While they may make your life easier and still bring an additional layer of power to your team, they are far from necessary. With that being said, some of these cards could hold the key to your own teams as everyone has different tools to work with.

C

Cards in the question mark category tend to be those that are a luxury and are often not widely used for the average player. With that being said, they may bring niche value to your monster box or provide an additional option to use. A great example of this is Red Odin 3392 who is a premiere button farming option, but with the addition of Red Tamazo 3162, players at least have a “farmable” poison inherit along with the future implementation of Descend inherits.

D

This category indicates the bottom of the Puzzle and Dragons barrel. These cards tend to have almost minimal value as they simply do not fit in the current meta and are badly in need of a buff or new evolution to give them viability. With that being said, you should still keep them as they technically have the most potential for improvement.

This arrow indicates if a card has moved up since the last posting/tier list. The category/bracket they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved up (eg. 2 will indicate they climbed up two rankings).

This takes into consideration the the + and – within tiers.

arrow-down-red-300px

This arrow indicates if a card has moved down since the last posting/tier list. The category they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved down (eg. 2 will indicate they were demoted down by two rankings).

This takes into consideration the the + and – within tiers.

+

A + indicates that these cards are relatively stronger than the other cards in that respective tier bracket and are trying to move up and may do so if a minor buff or new card/evo is released that can full capitalize on their strengths.

No plus/minus

No plus/minus indicates that the card is in the middle of their respective tier bracket.

A – indicates that this card is relatively weaker than the others in their respective tier bracket and are on the cusp of being demoted.

New Godfest Exclusive overview

Cthugha  and Yog-Sothoth  will both be their Puzzle and Dragons debut in the Flight of the Dragon Lords Godfest. Yog is one of the most desirable cards in the game due to his relatively unprecedented leadership potential. His ability to lead one of the strongest teams in the game is further compounded by his ease of usage along with relatively flexible team building requirements.

On the other hand, Cthugha is an interesting 5-star GFE who has a flexible utility-based active skill. His potency as a leader is naturally lower compared to Yog, but Cthugha retains formidable prowess as a sub due to his offensive-based awakenings.

Yog-Sothoth – S

Yog will remain one of the most desirable leaders for the foreseeable future and I did write a comprehensive article which can be found HERE. However, here is a snippet of the Pros and Cons for those who simply want a tldr version.

Yog-Sothoth

Pros download
Cons x
  • Bind Immune with bind clear
  • 324x ATK for a mono colour team
    • 2 combo Yogs will be a thing
  • 43.75% damage reduction
  • Low skill cap/easy to use
  • Flexible team building
  • Incredible base active skill
    • Possibly best value in the game
  • 1,100 weighted stats compounded by
    coop boost Multiplayer Bonus awakening
  • 6-star GFE
  • Lack of damage control
  • HP-conditional multiplier
  • Can’t really stall
  • RCV somewhat low
Cthugha – A

Cthugha is a brand new 5-star Godfest Exclusive that brings an interesting utility-oriented active skill for combo-focused teams, While +2 combo count actives are becoming slightly more common, one may want to have certain additional benefits alongside.

Cthugha is able to provide +2 combo count for 1 turn along with two turns of haste. This is significantly more flexible compared to Meridionalis  who generates numerous water orbs which is often counter intuitive for combo teams. Furthermore, 2 turns of haste will always have merit, even outside of combo teams.

Button coop farming teams are always looking for new and exciting ways to overcome combo shields along with being able to cycle through their active skills more efficiently. As such, Cthugha can make a wonderful inherit for these situations.

In addition, Cthugha has merits as a sub on combo teams due to his dual TPA TPA and coop boost Multiplayer Bonus awakenings. Coop boost provides 50% more base stats to a given monster when used in coop. Thus, Cthugha is able to greatly benefit from his 1,000 weighted stats.

While eclipsed by Yog as a leader, Cthugha still retains modest leadership potential that is quite effective in coop mode. Cthugha is able to produce 156.25x ATK team with 43.75% damage reduction when achieving 7 combos. However, he also has an HP-clause, but is lowered down to 50% for full multiplier. As such, if you are able to keep your health above 50%, you will be able to deal the highest damage output of other combo leaders at 7 combos (feasible on nearly every given board), but you will be vulnerable to binds, preemptives, and must bring some form of self healing to succeed.

Pantheon tier list

Due to the way that Powercreep works and how GungHo does not actually nerf cards, I may have to do a soft reset in a few months where I demote everything but the very top down 1 ranking and then readjust if things have become stronger. Presently, I only demote cards if I have overvalued them or they have completely fallen out of the meta. However, this is not the case for this list’s ranking but may be something I do in the future.

As with any tier list, you should take these rankings with a grain of salt as individual cards may have more or less value for your particular monster box.

Ordering withing each bracket is random.

GFE tier list

I feel that having a tier list that visually ranks the various GFE against each other when looking at their viability as a leader, sub, assist, or niche role is beneficial. Being able to cover numerous aspects will result in a higher placing along with their value in rolling dupes. This will attempt to rate these cards from a general box point of view and your individual situation will dictate just how important each card is.

Generally speaking, if a this is your first time acquiring a GFE, it will have at least some value and you should never sell a non-duplicate card.

This is an updated list compared to last time to reflect the new evolutions that have been announced/released in JP. Within each tier, the cards are in no particular order and is simply how they appear in my icons master list or after reshuffling.

Do note I have not had time to review the new Sherias/Sherias Roots evolutions so they may shift soon.

Notable changes

Ilm 3236 A -> S

Ilm has always been on the cusp of my ranking system but with both the introduction of Yog  and magical return of Ranking dungeons, Ilm deserves to be moved up.

Having flexibility as either a leader or stellar sub (that also possesses a Dragon Killer Dragon Killer) is invaluable when playing through end game content. Ilm possesses a bi-colour board changer which will ensure any floor dies when used on a Yog team along with having synergy with Wedding Akechi W Akechi to produce a full board of enhanced light orbs. This can then be used in conjunction with WeeJas Wee Jas to create a column for FUA or a box for the future 3×3 awakening.

Baldin 3370 and Aten 3268 C -> B

With newer dungeons having outrageous amounts of health, it sometimes becomes paramount to run Killer subs regardless of their base actives. Thus, Baldin and Aten with their ample Killers fit this slot nicely.

Having access to Killer subs will help us clear content like Heavenly Palace of Heretics if you are lacking ideal teams.

Kaede Ult Kaede, Balboa 3372, Typhon Cross Typhon, Kanna 3233 A -> B

Kaede, Balboa, and Typhon were more unique/powerful upon their release, but Powercreep has pushed them out of the spotlight as they are no longer required for success.

Kaede used to form a premier team that sadly died with the decline of the Heart-Cross meta along with not being able to be fully capitalized upon by mono wood teams.

Balboa used to be one of the best solutions for trivializing high defense encounters, but with the introduction of Guard Break  and outrageously high multipliers, you do not really need bring Balboa. In all honesty, he may be dropped down another tier, but may still linger around due to his Killers.

Typhon was initially undervalued then overvalued by me and I feel that B is her true home. Her board changer is awkward for most teams as the orb distribution is too poor to fully capitalize upon for mono-colour teams. Furthermore, her typing excludes her from being used on Dark Athena 3193 and Dark Metatron   teams.

Kanna still features wonderful TPA burst potential, but her weighted stats are quickly falling behind and 7 Combo awakenings 45 are universally more powerful. Furthermore, her base active skill is one of the worst in the game and is almost always inherited over.

Featured Pantheon ratings

The Monster Bootcamp part 1 Godfest features one of the best Pantheon lineups in recent history along with amazing 6x rates. As such, this is a strong Godfest to roll in and may or may not overshadow the long awaited debut of Ney  (coming soon?).

Finally, having dupes of the cards in Day 2 tends to be superior than dupes from Day 1. Naturally, the big winners are any of the S-tier cards as they offer tremendous value to their respective teams; however, I am leaning more heavily towards Day 2 for the average player as it features the Chinese Celestials and the new Samurai 2. Samurai 2 are the newest Pantheon to be released and are naturally more Powercreeped for the most part. Furthermore, the above chart does not show it, but most of the cards in Day 2 are ranked with a + compared to a – for Day 1. Just bear in mind that the Samurai 2 cards are 6* bases so they will be harder to roll.

No valuable Carnival

Day 1 features the worthless Tamadra Carnival (1 free Tamadra with each pull, may have been good in 2014) while Day 2 features 2x rates for Heroic Warriors and Wisedragons. However, the main focus is on the 6x rates for the real featured cards so this should not be too big of a liability.

Both days are equally amazing to roll in and it is simply a matter of choosing which one you are missing more of.

Conclusion

The Monster Bootcamp Part 1 Godfest features an amazing 6x rates for both powerful Pantheons and Godfest Exclusives. In all honesty, this is one of the stronger Godfests in recent memory and is well worth rolling in if you are missing a good chunk of the featured cards while dupes from Day 2 are always welcome.

Just be aware that we should be having a new batch of GFE in the next Godfest (or 2) so you may or may not want to save for Ney .

Let me know what you think about the this Godfest and whether or not you are planning on rolling.

Happy Puzzling!

  1. I feel like inahime and oichi have become more relevant as leaders. They are doing good as farming leads in cosmic trinity – complete annihiliation as they combine decently easy leaders skill and combine it with defensive factor. But just my opinion ^_^

    Like

    1. They do have the potential to achieve massive burst damage, but being unable to not match sets of 3 makes them a liability against the Blue boss when the combo shield is thrown up along with their defensive multiplier being tied to dealing damage

They can work but far from farming when compared to the better leaders imo

      Like

      1. Yes, but there are various ways to setup one shot teams if you have a momiji with Oichi and Urd for Inahime that completely bypasses that negative. Outside of 3P setups however it does hurt them quite a bit

        Like

        1. Yeah you need to have 2 other teammates who can kill the floors because they cannot stall. I played with my friend who has a kill set up for Oichi, but we cannot stall whatsoever. I wouldn’t trust it with randoms but works great with coordination

          Like

    2. Upon further reflection, they are capable of leading very fast teams, but it requires both partners to be equally competent/capable as they are unable to stall and pretty much active skill their way to victory

  2. I was slightly startled for a moment when you referred to Typhon as a “she”…then I realized that you were talking about Anaphon.

      1. Dual 7C awakenings are borderline ridiculous as she has an effective 4x built in for herself. Previous incarnations of dual 7c like Hathor had no other awakenings by comparison. Furthermore, the flexibility in evolution/active skills is fantastic

  3. You forgot to put mechbeasts on the tier list! Granted, they’re not all that powerful, but they still can be used as budget subs with an inherit on ragdra or other machine teams.

  4. I somehow managed to obtain 2 cards that weren’t even featured in this godfest. Light Zhuge Liang on day 1 and Maeda Keiji on day 2. I now have four of the five sengoku pantheon, excluding Akechi. I’m excited for these two new additions and wish you all good luck.

  5. I GOT SO MANY 6 STARS TODAY (DAY 2) I’M REALLY HAPPY. Originally wanted Haku but didn’t even get one Chinese celestial :p here’s my haul in order: nene, tachibana ginchiyo, zuoh, typhon, famiel (evolved), YOG-SOTHOTH!!, laila, arondlight (who even is she), chthuga and sumire:) I’m happy

  6. Tried to lay off this one mostly, so only 2 pulls. First was the blue mechanical god constellation thing, 2nd was another Haku (yay!) – 2nd normal, also have 1 from the collab. I can live with that.

  7. I would like to comment on your downgrade of Kanna. I can say that I own Yog and run Hiko, Amatsu, Ginchiyo, and Kanna as subs. Even though Kanna has no 7c awakenings, her power level rivals even Ginchiyo, when 2 or more TPAs are matched with 7 or more combos, even though Ginchiyo has the 2 7c awakenings. I run 3p Arena all day long and hardly ever lose. Inherits: Amatsu (Ameno) Hiko (Raphael) Kanna (Apollou Wisedragon) and Ginchiyo (Ilm). I must admit it is a whale team of all 6 star plus GFE and Collab cards, but they blast through everything.

    1. Well the thing is, Kanna does not offer that much outside of her TPA. Her other awakenings are average and her base stats are falling behind. It also doesn’t help her base active is one of the worst has challenging to use under most scenarios. Yes SI helps, but the longish CD is another liability.

As for your 3P Arena success, you dont actually need more damage on Yog teams. He already does far too much and while seeing big numbers is nice, it is not needed there imo

Lastly, the big thing about TPA vs 7C is that 7C is much easier to trigger and does not compromise orb matching while TPA requires sets of 4 which can sometimes lower combo count or be less practical to match

      1. I see your point, and it is valid. I mainly run her because she is fully plussed and with the Appollou SI fully leveled and two ++ RCV latents, she has 1166 RCV. Which helps, considering the other team members have moderate to low RCV. I do have a fully Leveled Momiji that I could replace her with. I have a considerable box and light is stacked. I have most light monsters minus Guan Yangfei and LScheat, which unit would you recommend to replace Kanna? I do have an LEscha as well… Thanks for the replies and I am a big fan! I check your site out weekly

  8. Day 2 had better incentives for me than yesterday, so I decided to roll a few times. Originally, I wanted to do only 3 and got some great luck.
    Blue Sonia
    Nene
Ilm (my second one, but I’m hardly complaining)

And I was like ‘man maybe I should do a couple more so I’ll stop at 5.’ Gungho punished me for my greed with two troll pulls (Hatsume no Tsubone and Kraken Rider, RIP). Gonna hang on to the rest of my stones for now.

  9. 7 rolls on each acct this time. Alt got almost completely trolled. only decent roll was apolluo. Main otoh, got fujin, raijin, ginchiyo and a dup dqxq. I have ameno on both accts and light sub blue is rare so the dqxq is helps (I revod the first one and lost the blue subattr)

    1. Not only is DQXQ a good Ameno sub, so too are Ginchiyo and Raijin. They have great weighted stats and base actives. The only problem with their actives is that you can get orb trolled by not creating enough light orbs for big bursts.
