Godfest basics

When making the decision to roll or save your magic stones, you need to determine if the featured pantheons can benefit or complement your teams. Chasing for one specific monster is unwise as you will most likely be disappointed and should ideally have Godfests that overlap with many target cards. Remember all monsters that come out of the REM will qualify for Skill Inheritance so do not be too hasty when selling dupes. Introduction

The Hail to the Dragon Godfest features the new and highly anticipated GFE Cotton . Cotton is like Ney  in that she has 5 distinct evolution paths to better cater her to your needs and Monster Box. This results in her always being of value along with having some of the most amazing awakenings and base kit.

In addition to the Loli Dragon, the Hail to the Dragon Godfest will have featured cards come out at level 50 and 5x rates. In addition, all rolls will come with +50 to a random stat. Finally, 2 select GFE will have 10x rates for days 1 and 2.

To help sweeten the deal, there will be 1 Pantheon featured alongside the large array of GFE which may help balance out poor luck. Furthermore, there will be either a Samurai or God Carnival which has 3x rates for those respective cards. This can pseudo act as a featured Pantheon albeit with 3x rates.

This article will include the usual tier list as well as a review of Cotton.

One thing I want to stress is that waiting for the next wave of Powercreep will never end. JP is 2-3 months ahead and will always debut new cards/evolutions that are stronger than what we can currently roll. This can result in being stuck in an infinite loop of waiting for the next big thing as it always changes. Thus, it may be best to save up your stones and heavily roll in one favourable Godfest that you can truly benefit from.

Ranking the cards – Pantheons & GFE

These rankings I assign cards are my own and take into consideration the card’s value as a leader, sub, inherit, and possibly any niche role they fulfill. In order to rank in the highest tier, the card has to excel in their respective role and cannot feasibly be replaced by anyone else. This can also be thought of as a Best in Slot card and tends to have applications on the top tier teams.

Despite my best to remain neutral, there is always the potential for bias and you need to be able to examine a card and determine if it can benefit your unique Monster Box and situation.

Legend guide

Symbols condense the time spent processing information and here is a brief explanation for each one I will use:

S

The best of the best. These cards compromise a best in slot role on top tier teams. They are largely irreplaceable and tend to offer something unique that cannot be easily replicated. This mostly exists to showcase the jump in power between the rest of the cards available.

A

All of the cards in this tier bring tremendous value to a variety of teams as either leaders, subs, or inherits that are challenging to mimic elsewhere. For example, Green Odin  remains one of the strongest bind clears and only card that can remove 5 turns of awoken skill binds (outside of Odin Dragon ). It may not be paramount to your success, but is well worth owning overall.

B

This category indicates cards that have value, but are not as widely used/irreplaceable as the above tier(s). While they may make your life easier and still bring an additional layer of power to your team, they are far from necessary. With that being said, some of these cards could hold the key to your own teams as everyone has different tools to work with.

C

Cards in the question mark category tend to be those that are a luxury and are often not widely used for the average player. With that being said, they may bring niche value to your monster box or provide an additional option to use. A great example of this is Red Odin  who is a premiere button farming option, but with the addition of Red Tamazo , players at least have a “farmable” poison inherit along with the future implementation of Descend inherits.

D

This category indicates the bottom of the Puzzle and Dragons barrel. These cards tend to have almost minimal value as they simply do not fit in the current meta and are badly in need of a buff or new evolution to give them viability. With that being said, you should still keep them as they technically have the most potential for improvement.

This arrow indicates if a card has moved up since the last posting/tier list. The category/bracket they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved up (eg. 2 will indicate they climbed up two rankings).

This takes into consideration the the + and – within tiers.

This arrow indicates if a card has moved down since the last posting/tier list. The category they are placed in will be their new home and each arrow will show how many brackets they moved down (eg. 2 will indicate they were demoted down by two rankings).

This takes into consideration the the + and – within tiers.

+

A + indicates that these cards are relatively stronger than the other cards in that respective tier bracket and are trying to move up and may do so if a minor buff or new card/evo is released that can full capitalize on their strengths.

No plus/minus

No plus/minus indicates that the card is in the middle of their respective tier bracket.

–

A – indicates that this card is relatively weaker than the others in their respective tier bracket and are on the cusp of being demoted.

New Godfest Exclusives overview

This section will be focusing on Cotton , but if you wish to read about Kami  and Taka , please refer to the previous Godfest post HERE.

 Cotton – S (6*)

Cotton is the newest GFE to be released and combines cuteness with an endless hunger for destruction through her amazing awakenings. Furthermore, Cotton is able to be evolved 5 different ways and by being able to choose your colour, you can have perfect team synergy regardless of your Monster Box. This flexibility will inevitably make you want to roll mutliple Cottons, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

At heart, Cotton is going to be a stellar sub as she features double 7 Combo  awakenings, Follow Up Attack (FUA) , bind immunity, and a powerful active that makes hearts and primary colour orbs on a 5 turn cooldown.

This combination makes her truly amazing as she can deliver lethal damage while being self sufficient with her FUA. You can take her bind immunity and transform her into a hard bind clearing option or inherit a full board changer to better suit your needs.

If we look at Cotton’s active skill, she is able to generate her primary colour orb (based no the colour of her evolution) and heart orbs on a 5 turn cooldown while causing no Skyfalls for 1 turn. Looking purely at the orb changing component, it should be a 7-8 turn cooldown so being reduced to 5 is quite amazing as the no Skyfalls most likely remove turns. However, causing no Skyfalls can be advantageous as it can lend a certain degree of damage control (less important now) but can also help dodge dangerous Mortal Skyfall Poison orbs or other mechanics you do not wish to occur.

All in all, Cotton has an amazing active that is short enough to easily inherit over while also providing amazing damage and FUA to your teams.

Which Cotton should I make?

If you are fortunate enough to roll Cotton, you should look at your box and determine which teams you use the most. From those teams, you need to determine where you can benefit from Cotton’s awakenings and active. For example, if you are running a blue-heavy Blue Hunter  team, making Blue Cotton may be in your best interest as she can potentially replace Ryune , Skuld , and Blue Ney . All Cottons follow the same pattern of awakenings and active skills so you need to simply find the best home based on your Monster Box.

Pantheon tier list

Due to the way that Powercreep works and how GungHo does not actually nerf cards, I may have to do a soft reset in a few months where I demote everything but the very top down 1 ranking and then readjust if things have become stronger. Presently, I only demote cards if I have overvalued them or they have completely fallen out of the meta. However, this is not the case for this list’s ranking but may be something I do in the future.

As with any tier list, you should take these rankings with a grain of salt as individual cards may have more or less value for your particular monster box.

GFE tier list

I feel that having a tier list that visually ranks the various GFE against each other when looking at their viability as a leader, sub, assist, or niche role is beneficial. Being able to cover numerous aspects will result in a higher placing along with their value in rolling dupes. This will attempt to rate these cards from a general box point of view and your individual situation will dictate just how important each card is.

Generally speaking, if a this is your first time acquiring a GFE, it will have at least some value and you should never sell a non-duplicate card.

This is an updated list compared to last time to reflect the new evolutions that have been announced/released in JP. Within each tier, the cards are in no particular order and is simply how they appear in my icons master list or after reshuffling.

Notable changes

Some of the newer evolutions do not have icons available but will have them for the next Godfest.

 Light Kali D -> C

Light Kali has been one of the worst GFE for a prolonged period of time. However, with her new evolution, she gains bind immunity and a third TPA . While this was not the Skill Charge , 7 Combo , Guard Break  I had previously hoped for, there is only so much hope for a 5* GFE.

However, Light Kali is significantly stronger than she was before but still mediocre in the grand scheme of things due to a lack of the higher tier awakenings.

I am undecided on Dark Kali and whether or not she should return to S with her new evolution.

Featured Pantheon Ratings

The Samurai 2 Pantheon is perhaps the strongest Pantheon in the game which comes as no surprise due to their relatively young age and all cards being 6-star bases. This increased rarity and flexibility of leader/sub/inherit makes them truly amazing to own. Powerful board changers are always in demand, but it is rare to find them combined with cards with favourable awakenings as you can use them as a sub.

On the flip side, the Three Kingdoms 2 Pantheon is still strong, but have far less overall relevancy compared to Samurai 2.

Interesting Carnival

The Hail to the Dragon King Godfest will overlap with either the Samurai or God carnival. Regardless, either on will feature 2 different Pantheons with 3x rates. This should also help increase the overall rolling rates of this Godfest.

Putting it all together

Day 1 has a stronger GFE line up whereas Day 2 features the Samurai 2 series. This helps stack Day 2 more heavily at the top but also leaves it lackluster below.

To sweeten the deal further, there are 2 Carnivals coinciding alongside that have two different Pantheons featured at 3x.

As a side note, all of the 10x featured cards are amazingly Powerful and well positioned moving forward.

Conclusion

The Hail to the Dragon Lord Godfest is continuing the upward trend of favourable Godfest. Each of the past three or so have had increasingly better line ups/rates/Carnivals and is topped of by the debut of Cotton. This now presents players with quite an appetizing Godfest and the urge to roll may be strong.

With that being said, I am well aware that many players are continuously saving for “the next big thing” in PAD. Unfortunately, we are always going to be chasing this notion due to being behind 2-3 months from JP. Thus, you may be continuously saving and never spending.

As a result, it may be best to amass a large pile of Magic Stones and then liberally roll in a Godfest where you are missing most of the featured cards. This way you can “catch up” to current Powercreep trends and better position yourself for the next series of challenges. Just note that Monster Hunter will be coming back shortly and it is still undetermined if we will get the Dragon Caller REM.
