June Bride REM Review and Analysis – June 2019

Introduction

The June Bride REM will be coming to North America in June this year which comes as a big surprise as it has historically come in August. This is a good indication that GungHo NA is pushing content out faster (look at the Ideal Ranking Tournament with Refresh Nerf) which hopefully sets a solid precedence moving forward.

Sadly, despite the fact that this event is home to one of the most popular chase cards, it is a lackluster affair overall. This is because it features abysmal rolling rates along with a 1% chance at the first ever 9-star Seasonal/Collab card, Bride Zela . Bride Zela is  powerful and waifu material but will probably cost as much as some small weddings to acquire.

This article will summarize each card’s strengths and weaknesses to provide a better picture of what to expect in this event.

All 8-star and 9-star cards are available for trade within the Monster Exchange.

Order within each tier is random and not reflective of ranking.

Regardless of card’s ranking, you should always keep it if it is your very first time acquiring them.

Limit Breaking

Limit Breaking is the process of leveling a card beyond level 99. This will unlock more weighted stats along with the potential to receive Super Awakenings. These additional awakenings can add significant power but only function in solo mode.

Any card that can qualify for Limit Breaking will have their level displayed in blue and feeding a Super Snow Globe will push them beyond the level 99 cap.

You can read more about Super Awakenings HERE.

Monster Exchange

The Monster Exchange System has mostly eliminated the need to roll in most events as players can simply trade in for a card of their choice. This is often done during lackluster events to avoid spending Stones on poor bottom rarity cards or to snipe a specific card if luck is not on your side.

Weapon Assists

Weapon Assists are a special evolution for select cards that will be used exclusively as inherits. This form retains the same base stats as the original form but will also transfer over all awakenings on the Weapon Assist card and this occurs if the Awoken Assist  is present.

This type of evolution is permanent at this point in time (will change in future) and cannot be reversed; however, during the card’s respective event, it is possible to Monster Exchange them to reverse them back to the original form. Doing this will forfeit all pluses, skill ups, and awakenings.

My approach to Collab rolling

Rolling any Rare Egg Machine is a gamble and it becomes a matter of maximizing your rate of returns in an event.

This translates into rolling when the bottom rarity has high value as those will be the most common cards. Furthermore, I may utilize the Monster Exchange system to acquire the higher rarity cards if they will significantly advance my progress. As such, I tend to look most closely at the 5-star pool to determine if it is worth rolling in.

This is just my own personal approach and everyone has different goals/motivations so take this section with a grain of salt.

9 Star base

Bride Zela will be available from the Monster Exchange at the same rate as 7* cards from 10-stone machines: 5 fodder consisting of 7* GFE and 8* Bride cards.

Bride Zela – S

Pros
Cons
  • Light equivalent to Zela
    • High personal damage
    • VDP
    • FUA
    • Powerful active
    • Enables Light teams to SFUA + VDP efficiently
  • Incredible sub on Light teams
    • Eg. Dark Karin , Edward , & future Mariel
  • Weapon Assist aids Light teams
  • Animated
  • Primarily a sub
    • Still a modest leader
  • Low rolling rates
  • Featured alongside a weak roster

Bride Zela is the top prize from the June Bride Event as she functions as an incredibly powerful sub for Light-based teams. This is because she brings almost everything to the table: triple 7c 45high weighted stats, powerful active, VDP FUA while also being animated and cutely blushing. In fact, she mirrors her REM-cousin except for her Weapon Assist being more valuable. As such, she can significantly upgrade any Light-based team.

One of the main reasons why Wood teams are becoming more dominant is the inclusion of REM Zela and it is not a far stretch to say that Bride Zela will be a significant boon to Light teams. Having a single sub with 8x personal damage from hitting 7 combos that jumps to 20x with VDP helps ensure she is able to remove high-health Void encounters. Furthermore, the FUA an ease team building options along with the active providing the opportunity to VDP + SFUA .

At this point in time, many end game spawns feature Void and Resolve which means players have to either control their damage or make a 3×3 Box (or use a Void Damage Void active) and an FUA/SFUA. For the most part, most players will be using the VDP approach which means it may be challenging to activate a Leader Skill as combo count may be in jeopardy.

If using a tri-elemental board, combo counts can wildly vary and a bicolour can only have 12/13 Heart orbs for a FUA. As such, utilizing VDP + SFUA has become popular through Zela as players need 12-18 Heart orbs to succeed for 7 combos (+2 from Zela). Thus, Bride Zela can function in the same manner provided an SFUA can be found on the team. This almost guaranteed 7 combos ensures VDP cards that are tied to 7 Combo (or Leader Skills that need 7 combos) can greatly benefit from Bride Zela. More information about Zela and SFUA can be found HERE.

Weapon Assist Skill Boost Imp ATK Imp ATK

Bride Zela’s Weapon Assist has synergy with her own active in that it grants the SFUA to fully take advantage of the +2 Combo count and bicolour board. While we do have other SFUA options available, Bride Zela has the strongest active (assuming Light teams) as it generates the ideal board.

With that being said, Yoh’s Weapon provides 20% Resistance against Jammer, Poison, and Blind along with Bride Zela’s Weapon having a higher cost due to the rarity.

Only make this if you own numerous Bride Zelas.

Monster Exchange?

Bride Zela will have the same trading cost as top rarity 10-stone events (five 7* GFE/8* Bride cards) which may place her out of reach for the average player. Like any other Monster Exchange decision, do not nuke your box for a trade. A card is only as strong as a the team they can be used on sacrificing numerous cards for a stellar sub is unwise.

For myself, I personally prefer to Monster Exchange for Leaders that will enhance my own progress. Of course, Bride Zela can improve Light-based teams, but we technically have enough tools to clear all content in the game. With that being said, I do not foresee Bride Zela (or any other colour Zela) falling out of favour due to the sheer number of things she brings to a team. As such, it can almost be seen as future-proofing yourself against future content.

All in all, trading for Bride Zela is a costly venture in order to add a powerful sub to Light-based teams and should only be considered if sufficient Trade Fodder (ideally in dupes) is available. Furthermore, trying to roll for her will most likely be a losing proposition with a 1% rolling rate and poor cards alongside her in the event.

8 Star base

All 8-star base cards can be acquired via the Monster Exchange System.

 Eschamali – B

Active: Change  Wood, Heart, Jammer, Poison & Mortal Poison orbs to Light orbs. Increase skyfall chance of Light orbs by 15% for 4 turns (10 turn CD)

Leader Skill: 3x ATK and 1.5x HP for God, Machine type; 5x ATK for matched Att. when matching 5 Orbs with 1+ enhanced [2.25/225/1]

Awakenings: +light orb +light orb +light orb +light orb +light orb +light orb +light orb  Skill Lock Resist

Pros
Cons
  • 7 Orb Enhance +light orb
    • Adds significant damage to any team
  • Double orb changer that removes hazards
  • 4 turn light skyfall
  • Challenging to fit on teams
    • Lower utility
    • Primarily damage
    • Breaks Hearts
  • Low value as a leader

Bride Eschamali is an older card within the June Bride event and may often find herself being passed over for other options.

This is not to say she is a bad card as her 7 Orb Enhances +light orb add significant damage to any team, but her lack of utility holds her back. Bride Eschamali’s kit is almost exclusively focused on offense as she is able to provide large amounts of passive damage along with a a double orb changer with 4 turns of Light skyfalls.

Under the right circumstances, this can be invaluable but she offers little else for the team. Generally speaking, teams are focused on surviving challenging mechanics and Eschamali provides little in that regard. Another possible issue is the fact that she breaks Heart Orbs which prevents players from killing Resolve spawns.

Wedding Scheat- A

Active: Change  left-most column into Light orbs and the right-most column into Heart orbs. Increase skyfall chance of Light orbs by 15% for 4 turns. (10 turn CD)

Leader Skill: 3x ATK and 2x HP for God, Machine type; 3x ATK when matching 2 Light combos, up to 5x at 3 Light combos [4/225/1]

Awakenings: TPA TPA TPA TPA TPA  Skill Boost Skill Boost
Super Awakenings: TPA
Typing: Machine / God
Weighted Stats (Limit Break): 999 (1299)
HP 5555 (7222) / ATK 1453 (1889) / RCV 460 (598)

Pros
Cons
  • Can make lots of Scheat-y puns
  • 6 TPA TPA for massive damage
  • Comes with FUA
  • Valuable active skill
    • 4 turns skyfall
    • FUA ready made
    • 5 Light orbs
  • Primarily a sub

Wedding Scheat is still an impressive card despite being relatively old. Her active skill is similar to her REM counterpart in that she is able to generate a column of Hearts and her primary colour. This has applications for a wide variety of content as it creates orbs for damage and for FUA Players can use these orbs for speed farming, fixing poor board changers, or as a standalone solution. Furthermore, the 4 turns of Light skyfalls can help ensure a steady flow of orbs are present for future turns.

Looking at Wedding Scheat’s awakenings, her 5 (6 with Super Awakening) TPA TPA enables her to deal massive amounts of damage with a single 4-match. This alone can enable her to delete large health spawns and tends to work best on teams who do not have a hard-combo requirement. This is because a TPA match runs the risk of lowering your combo count which may invalidate activation overall. Furthermore, if there is no hard requirement, a single match promotes easier/faster solves.

WIth this in mind, Wedding Scheat may also find herself on farming/Ranking dungeon teams where her tremendous personal output and active can be abused.

Bride Rushana – S

Active: Recover 40% of max HP. Change top-most row into Wood orbs. (7 turn CD)

Leader Skill: [Board becomes 7×6]; 1.5x HP for God type; Increase orb movement time by 5 seconds; 3x ATK for each cross of 5 Water, Wood, Light orbs [2.25/729/1]

Awakenings:  Skill Boost  Skill Lock Resist Bind Immune Bind Immune   45
Super Awakenings: 45

Pros
Cons
  • 3 Skill Boosts Skill Boost
  • Natural 7×6 Leader Skill
    • Synergy with Colour Cross
    • Deals massive damage with 3+ Crosses
    • +5 seconds movement time
    • Can pair with a friend
      • Do not have to own
  • Powerful VDP  option
  • Low CD active skill
    • Can fix bad board changers
  • Balance typing
    • Can use any Killer Latent
  • Leader Skill semi requires 3 Crosses
  • Low Defensive multipliers
  • Restricted to Gods

Wedding Rushana is an interesting card as she is able to function as both a leader and sub.

As a leader, she is able to have one of the highest scaling multipliers due to her natural 7×6 board and potential to fit in 6 unique Colour Crosses. For the most part, this is excessive and not required as things will be already dead and VDP/FUA may be required.

Unfortunately, she is somewhat orb hungry as she feasibly needs 3 Crosses to truly shine as 81x with two Crosses may not be enough. Furthermore, multiple colour crosses may be a mentally demanding leader skill to use when other, easier options exist. With that being said, if players are able to use her well, she has one of the best scaling multipliers.

In regards to her sub potential, this is where Wedding Rushana gains the most value as she is able to function as one of the best VDP cards when utilizing her Super awakenings. This is because she is able to have 31.25x personal damage on top of being Balance typing (can use any Killer latent). This will often result in sufficient damage to execute a Void spawn without supplemental burst. Furthermore she also comes with 3 Skill Boosts Skill Boost and a valuable active that replenishes HP and creates additional Wood orbs. These Wood orbs can be used to correct a poor board changer or supply enough to activate without an additional active. To sweeten the deal further, her active is on a short 7 turn cooldown.

All in all, Wedding Rushana is a stellar sub who can solve VDP issues for many teams.

Bride Raijin – B

Active: No skyfall combos for 1 turn. Removes lock status on orbs. Change all orbs to Fire, Water & Wood & Light & Dark & Heart orbs (7 turn CD)

Leader Skill: [No Skyfall]; 6x ATK and 3x RCV for Attacker type; 4x ATK when matching 5 or more colors (4+heal) [1/576/9]

Awakenings: TPA TPA  Skill Lock Resist Bind Immune Bind Immune  45
Super Awakenings: TPA 45

Pros
Cons
  • Provides a little bit of everything
  • Potent sub on Rainbow teams
  • No Skyfall active provides shorter CD & damage control
  • Restrictive Leader Skill
    • Small sub pool
  • No HP/Damage Reduction
  • Rainbow leader

Wedding Raijin is able to provide a bit of everything but does not excel at any particular niche at this point in time. She has strong TPA TPA and FUA coverage but that somewhat competes with Scheat for mono-water.

With that being said, Bride Raijin can function as a sub on Rainbow teams due to her fast charging active that unlocks the board. By tacking on a No Skyfall clause, the active is able to charge up 1 turn faster and can be invaluable for Rainbow teams

As a leader, Bride Raijin has a high ATK multiplier for Rainbow teams, but is restricted to Attacker types along with not having any HP/Damage Reduction. Furthermore, Rainbow teams currently play a lesser role due to less consistency and harder time activating VDP . Thus, it may be challenging to fully take advantage of Bride Raijin as a leader.

7 star base

Wedding Panera (New) – A

Active: For 2 turns, bypass damage absorb shield effects; For 2 turns, increase orb move time by 1 seconds (22 turn CD)

Leader Skill: [Fixed 5 second movetime]; 2x HP & ATK for Balanced type; 8x ATK and 2x RCV when matching 4 or more colors [4/256/4]

Super Awakenings: 45

Pros
Cons
  • 2 turn Damage Absorb Void (Fujin )
    • +3 turn CD
    • +1s orb movement
    • Other option is Raizer
  • Strong LS multipliers
  • 3 Skill Boosts Skill Boost
  • 5s LS overwrites 4s Dungeons
  • 2 turns of Absorb void is redundant outside of A5
  • LS fixed at 5s movement time
    • Restricted to Balance types
    • Rainbow leader

Wedding Panera’s primary function will be as a 2 turn Fujin-style active as she is able to cancel out Damage Absorb mechanics. For the most part, 2 turns is excessive outside of Arena 5 farming where there is a possibility of two floors having Damage Absorb back-to-back. If this does occur, Wedding Panera is able to make them obsolete which will greatly haste clear times. Furthermore, the +1 second of orb movement time can overwrite Time Debuffs along with useful awakenings if used in solo mode.

Unfortunately, the 2 turns of Damage Absorb Void comes with an additional 3 turns of cooldown compared to Fujin which may be problematic if used outside of A5. Furthermore, her Leader Skill is impractical due to the typing restriction, fixed-5 second orb movement, and Rainbow requirement. With that being said, for players who can actually field a team along with possessing enough orb movement skills may find her a fun challenge.

Wedding Parvati (New) – A

Active: For 2 turns, no skyfall; Change Water orbs to Heal orbs (3 turn CD)

Leader Skill: 1.5x all stats for Wood Att.; 2x ATK on the turn a skill is used; 5x ATK and reduce damage taken by 25% when matching 2+ Heal combos [2.25/225/2.25/43.75%]

Pros
Cons
  • Natural 60% Poison Resist Poison resist
  • Strong LS multpliers
  • 3 turn base CD
  • VDP via Super Awakenings
  • Balance typing
  • Orb skin
  • Active skill reliant
  • Requires dupe of herself for System
    • Lowers Active Skill diversity
    • Plays like a No Skyfall leader
    • Wood has numerous strong leaders

Wedding Parvati is the final new card to be added into the June Bride event and comes with a strong Leader Skill from a multipliers perspective.

Being able to lead a 2.25/225/2.25/43.75% team should mean wonderful things as she has enough Effective HP to survive any hit (with Damage Reduction), the ability to heal back up, and sufficient damage to kill things but is sadly held back by her restrictions.

Firstly, Wedding Parvati must use an active skill every turn AND match 2 or more Heal combos. Either element would put stress on activation but having to do both leads to less options. For the most part, Wedding Parvati would probably be running a second one as a sub to close the active skill and heart or system. While this will most likely supply enough Heart orbs, the fact that 3/6 actives were dedicated here means there are less abilities for other mechanics while also creating a No Skyfall leader. This is not to say she cannot clear content, but players will have to be mindful of their team composition along with having sufficient actives to handle the dungeon at hand.

Orb Skin

W Satsilo Wedding Satsuki – C

Active: Change Water, Jammer, Poison & Mortal Poison orbs to Light orbs. Reduces cooldown of other skills by 1 turn (7 turn CD)

Leader Skill: 3.5x ATK and 1.5x RCV for Dragon, Attacker type [1/12.25/2.25]

Awakenings: TPA Skill Lock Resist Skill Boost TPA TPA   Bind Immune Bind Immune
Super Awakenings: TPA

Pros
Cons
  • 4 TPA TPA with SA
  • Pretty
  • Low value active skill
  • Few places to use on
  • 1,052 Weighted Stats

Wedding Satsuki did receive a buff to her awakenings but she is unfortunately lackluster overall. With only 1,052 weighted stats at level 110, is it hard to justify using as a sub and her active skill is low value overall.

With that being said, some players may find merit in her 4 TPA TPA through Super Awakenings, but may still not be enough to justify using.

As such, she will most likely be a pretty Box Cheerleader.

Wedding Persephone – C

Active: Ignore enemy attribute damage absorb effects for 1 turn ( does not include combo shield, damage absorb shield, and damage void ). Change Fire & Heart orbs to Dark orbs (16 turn CD)

Leader Skill:1.5x all stats for Dark Att.; 3x ATK when matching Dark+Light [2.25/20.25/2.25]

Awakenings: Time Extend TPA TPA Skill Boost Skill Lock Resist   Bind Immune Bind Immune
Super Awakenings: TPA

Pros
Cons
  • Colour Absorb Void
  • Double orb changer
  • Colour absorb is niche overall
  • Many more options for Colour
    absorb void exist

Wedding Persephone was originally quite unique as the pool of Colour Absorb Voids was quite small; however, GungHo has released numerous more and Wedding Persephone is now blurred into the rather large pool.

As a whole, Colour Absorb Void is niche at best as there are few spawns where it is desired as it only prevents bosses from absorbing damage against a specific colour (eg. Machine Hera and Machine Goemon). Thus, when using a Colour Absorb Void, finding a desirable secondary effect is important and Wedding Persephone’s double orb changer may ruin activation for many teams.

Another problematic aspect for Wedding Persephone is that modest chunk of the player base will have Sleipnir  who can also Void Colour Absorbs.

6 star base

All cards in the 4, 5, and 6-star category have far too low weighted stats (even with level 110) to justify using as a sub/leader and their sections will only include a Pros/Cons along with description of their active skill. For the most part, they will act as Box Cheerleaders.

W Ra Wedding Ra – C

Active: Deal  77777 damage to all enemies. Ignore enemy element and defense. Increases time limit of orb movement by 3 seconds for 1 turn (7 turn CD)

    • No longer unique or special

W Bastet Wedding Bastet – D

Conclusion

The June Bride REM is one of the weakest events in Puzzle and Dragons at the bottom rarity. Perhaps the cute outfits are supposed to offset the lower value, but players would be better served by utilizing the Monster Exchange system if they truly wanted a card.

Let me know what you think about the June Bride in the comments below along with your own personal approach to this event.

  1. First?

Got Kano on my free roll and Zela on my first roll. Also previously got Zela Kitty in the last Collab. I should try the lottery next?

      1. I wish it were real life money though haha! Now that I’ve pulled B.Zela, do you think Karin (Dark) is a better lead than D.Meta? How would you build Dark Karin with B.Zela on your team?

        Like

        1. I would build her similarly to what I used on mine but drop out a Ney/Light Cotton for BZela

As for better leader, it depends on your overall team composition for both

      1. What?! I thought your advice was always keep at least 1 of what you roll from a REM mantastic? R u saying I should sell sopdet and all the other wizards and silver trash from REMs past?

        1. Oh I must have misread thinking you had dupes. To be honest, it is highly unlikely the 4/5* seasonals from this event would ever be good but keep 1 just for Box Cheer leading purposes isnt a terrible thing

  2. June Panera’s 5s LS is useful for 4s dungeons (overriding the limit). So far, it and Street Fighter Sakura are the only ones with that leader skill.

    Typo: Izamami -> Izanami

  3. 4 rainbows in a row on my alt. Ra (sigh), Bastet (…..), Scheat(!!!) and Rushana (!!!!!!!). Idk, normally I wouldn’t pull a REM like this one very much but I just had a feeling this time.

Like the rest, I was hoping for Zela since I don’t have any version of her on either account. But I am pleased nonetheless. I’ve got to find a home for Rushana, i’m not sure which teams to put her on yet.

  4. Got Two bride zela in a row on my new account, then rolled my third on 5th pull, what a bless! Wish the same luck had happened to my main or secondary, instead of crap loads of silver and gold…. this kinda make me think that someone’s been manipulating the drop rate to attract newer players.

    I don’t think I am rolling anymore…
The question is whether to exchange all my dupe withches for Zela or not

      1. I don’t have “numerous” trade fodder. I would basically be wiping clean all my witch dupes (3 Reeches, 2 salines)
Team-wise, i can field a Yog team and she would do fine in rainbow teams. For most purposes though, I think NY Yomi or Cotton can fill in for her.

She is definitely great but I doubt that I should invest so much for a sub. If I am going to spend 5 witches (or comparable) I would rather get a game-breaking lead whenever is out

  6. I have enough to trade for Zela but it involves trading non duped Rex and Ciel and Scheat (none of which I use)
My only concern is not having the right leader…
    Who would it be?

    Side question:
Is it possible to get 7 combos for Amen with a bicolored board with 15 of each color?
I’ve struggled to find one that works….

  7. I want BZela so bad that Im willing to trade in reeche for her, sadly I only have 4 trade fodders and Im trying to roll a 8 star card, no diamonds so far

  8. Is there any real value to have 2x Rushana subs? In this case it would be ZelaKitty\Zela\Rush\Rush\OdinDr, but I’ve got a lot of functional green sub alternatives. Thoughts?

  9. Rolled about 5 times (including free and $1 roll), ended up with Eschamali so I guess that’s ok luck?

I don’t have any teams for her – do you think she can be used as trade fodder for future collabs/ SGF? If not I may just trade for Bzela as I’ll have more use for her.

      1. Bride Esch, 2x Athena Non, Madoo and one of the token cards (haven’t traded my token yet)!

I don’t have dupes for them, but my main team is Dmeta so those cards aren’t really needed. I realize it’s not really advised to trade in non dupes though :/
