Question Time with Mantastic – January 2021

Introduction

The general gist of Question Time posts are for players to ask various PAD-related questions that do not have a simple/Google-able answer or related article on my website. I do play other games and have often found myself having specific/unique questions about it but have no where to go and can imagine this may hold true for some of my readers.

With that being said, there will be some restrictions on the types of questions I will be answering.

If planning on commenting on a regular basis, it is advantageous to create a WordPress account to both receive notifications as well as giving me a point of reference as to who I am responding to.

Do’s and Don’t

download For the most part, almost any question will be answered, even some non-invasive Off-Topic ones; however, it is best to ask questions that require explanation/why/my personal opinion. The following examples are Fantastic types of questions to ask:

  • Of these options, what is the best Yusuke team I can make for Arena 3?
  • What direction do you think GungHo will take with the 4x HP leads?
  • Can Heart Cross teams be revived and if so, how?

x The following types of questions will not be answered by me either because it has a simple Google-able answer or shows a lack of effort on the reader’s part:

  • Anything that Google/Padx can answer
  • A link to your entire Monster Box and saying “make me a team”

Conclusion

I hope my readers use this opportunity to ask questions that will hopefully improve their overall game play and progression.

Happy Puzzling!

    1. It does somewhat hinge on what kind of content you are playing through but

      Gileon x Gileon
Euchs x Euchs (cheese for Shura 2 as well)
      Raijin x fasca
      Tsukuyomi x Norza

Are a few I know function and perform well from my own experience

  1. Did you see the buff NY Reeche just got in JP (2x RCV added to leader skill)?

Unfortunately, it seems like we’ll have to wait a while for the NY REM in NA, unlike Christmas; but when we do get it, I feel like she’ll be one of the most used/powerful leaders in the game.

Do you think so too or is there something I’m not considering?

  2. What are your thoughts on how to use event medals, and do you think it’s worth trading them for rainbow wreaths to get a Christmas assist card from the shop?

    Like

    1. If you have a lot of rainbow medal surplus, it’s fine to use them to skip annoying grinds. I’d save up at least 20 medals before exchanging them, though.

      Like

    2. rainbow medals save you time farming as you can technically grind/acquire this with stamina

As such, unless you have copious amounts lying around, I would usually grind it

  3. This isn’t a question, Mantastic, but I just want to extend my sincerest well wishes to the health of you and your family this new year! Thank you for all you do for the PAD community.

  4. How do you think Seina x Seina compares with Gileon x Gileon in terms of potential/current end-game content? Personally I’ve been clearing Shura with Gileon but I just got Seina, and I feel that, although Seina has some nice perks like VDP, Gileon’s active + leader skills are still superior and his subs compensate for his weaknesses.

    1. To tag on…
and for those of us looking to go through the hardest content who lack norza or gileon… would you say rolling hard for seina is worth it?

      Like

      1. Assuming you have a team for her, she will be able to clear all current content and if that means beating things you have never done before, it will be worthwhile

Also, Seina will have a higher roll rate next week

    1. Polowne brings:

      FUA
1 turn colour + damage absorb void
      L
      4 Effective SB

As such, you will probably have to use two different cards to try and cover all those metrics but key is having the colour absorb ready for Denebola in SR

  5. Is it worth rolling hard in Mystics and Spectres if you’ve already got leads like Gileon, Fasca, Raijin, 3x Ferrule etc?

  6. Which would you say is more valuable for me, the Fagan Rai or Zaerog Core weapon assist? I use a Fasca – Raijin team with Super Reincarnated Thor, Super Reincarnated Indra, Mega Awoken Fujin and Mega Awoken Kali (In Kali’s case, I didn’t have any valid dark attackers so I added her for the skill boosts). I am also not very good at consistently getting 10 combos, though I can usually get 7-8.

    Like

    1. Usually Zaerog if you have the Raijin half, Fagan if you have the Fasca half, but depends if you already have cloud resist covered by your main team.

      Like

      1. What do you mean by raijin half or fasca half? You mean if one of them is a helper from a friend and I have the other? Because If so, I own both, and I have raijin set as the helper and fasca as the leader. Which would you say is the better assist in that situation?

        Like

        1. If you’re going to get one, I would definitely get the Fagan assist. While the TPA adds a lot to Raijin’s personal damage, the extra TPA damage will rarely win or lose a floor for you. On the other hand, Fagan’s Rai’s assist is more generally useful:
          1) It has a skill boost, which means you need less skill boosts to transform your Fasca. Even if you’re able to transform her easily on turn 1 now, the more skill boosts you can stack the more flexibility you have for tossing in subs with less skill boosts.
          2) The skill boost will be useful with any transform lead
          3) You get cloud resist
          4) Fagan’s active gives you +2 combos for 4 turns. You mentioned that you are struggling to hit high numbers of combos on a 7×6. The extra combos will make it a lot easier to trigger Fasca’s shield and hit 7c (or even 10c) when you’re trying to maximize damage from a light VDP.
In short, Fagan’s assist is considered one of the best in the game right now. Zaerog’s is more situation specific.

On a separate note, you should drop Kali unless you need her for her skill boosts or unmatchable reduction. Being off-type means Kali is contributing less attack, hp, and recovery to your team. I’m guessing you’re new because you’re struggling with 7×6 and are including Kali to cover dark. For you to trigger Rajin’s active skill, you only need to have one card with either a dark main attribute or a dark sub-attribute. Rajin already brings a dark sub-attribute. So you don’t actually need a dark card on your team. Raijin IS your dark attacker 🙂

          Like

          1. Oh and Fasca’s wood attribute counts too (same as Raijin’s). So all you need to do is make sure you have fire and water coverage among your subs somewhere.

            Like

    2. Core has fantastic applications for bolstering damage on cards such as Raijin but has significantly less universal applications compared to Rai

Long term value, I would say Rai has much more staying power as it can be used on basically every team. Core helps Raijin/Astalos, etc. perform better but that is probably not truly needed until playing through Shura or higher

  7. I have a bit of a broad questions for you. I hope this isn’t too off-topic.
I recently learned that EU pad was taken down some years ago. I’ve invested quite a bit of time/money/dedication into pad (im rank 952) and the prospect of PAD going away anytime in the medium future makes me sad. I like PAD enough that i could see myself playing it a decade down the road.

So – How long do you think Pad NA will be around for? and overall do you think the content will reach a point where it caps or gets too convoluted/complex and reaches a dead end?

Thanks. I hope your health is doing better and you are well.

    1. I don’t work for GH nor know their inside business numbers but NA has been continuously pumping out events and I feel PAD has managed to lure in new players over the course of 2020 (basing this on my anecdotal evidence of more newer player questions)

PAD Pass is another good sign along with watch video for box space as they are income streams for GH

As such, I feel NA PAD is still going strong

  8. Happy New Year Mantastic! Hope you and your family are doing well. If you could, how about an article on 1c leads. I am having a hard time clearing the 3 latent dungeons with the time constraint and I would love a list of 1c/easy activation leads that could be used for these types of Dungeons?

    Like

    1. Happy New Year to you too!

Generally speaking, 1c leads are <50% based so things like Dark Omega, Chibi Urd, Shivnia, etc. tend to work best and ideally using No Skyfall to ensure faster clears

      Like

    2. I can’t remember the specific leads off the top of my head, but I’m pretty sure there are were some 1c leads (or at least ones with leader skills that are obscenely easy to trigger) that require all pixel or all revo subs for their teams. The team building would be heavily constrained, but there are plenty of good ex godfest exclusives, srevos, and collab cards that fit the bill. Anyway, maybe someone else will be able to chime in and actually name one of them. I’ve never actually tried running something like that

  9. This question is for anyone who can help me out. I was unsuccessful looking online for a list of dead collabs–ones that Gungho will never bring back to PAD NA. I’d like to rid my box of all those monsters. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Like

    1. I actually suggest taking those monsters you think are useless and trading them – a lot of people like to collect old collab stuff. I recently came back to the game and to my surprise a lot of people really wanted my Bleach swords so I was able to trade for a lot of gems and such that helped my box out quite a bit.

    1. It will be harder as the orb flow will be slower but you don’t always need 3 Dark Combos every turn, only when you are about to take damage/preemptive

I also don’t own them so harder for me to say

  10. If you were to place Santadra (or any other Christmas 8* for that matter) on a tier list? I traded for lower rarity things, only to accidentally trade one of those things for another, and now I’m sad and trying to get some use out of the Santadra. I’m currently using it on my Seina team (rolled her today with the free 20 stones 🙂 ) I remember seeing some summary of what you said rehearsing them saying (been a while since I’ve seen it, correct me if there are any mistakes), “Santadra is cool, the rest has niche uses or is just useless.” Nonetheless, I’d heard about the circumstances behind the absence of a Christmas tier list, and I would like to extend my condolences to you, and wish a happy new year.

    1. Santa Tama and Gremory are the stars of the Christmas event (S) with Gremory being better once she receives her 2 final awakenings

Both can function as potent subs due to their powerful actives and santa tama as a leader with Ryumei

  11. This has probably been told in separate breakdown videos of individual dungeons. But I would really like to see a video breaking down and highlighting the most tedious/ruining mechanics in all the endgame dungeons that could ruin a 20 minute run (referring mostly to arenas/shura realm). Ie: Absorption; gross amounts of spinners; punished for using a 7X6 leader; a ton of bosses with resolves/color absorption. I usually try to cover all my bases with abilities/latents. But it’s always disheartening to miss accounting for that one spawn that ruins your run. I am aware a site exists breaking down the dungeon, but hearing the take of a veteran in PAD would save a lot of research/guess work.

    1. For a good chunk of dungeons I made a checklist for what you need to succeed (google mantastic + dungeon name)

But if going in blind, bring Blind, Poison, Damage Absorb, and Awoken Bind clear

  12. What leaders would you recommend for farming Scheherezade Dragon in A5/AA3 in the upcoming invade event?

    Like

    1. The C stands for combos. For example, 7c usually refers to the combo enhance awakening that requires 7 combos to double a card’s damage. 10C refers to the awakening that requires 10 combos to multiply the card’s damage by 5. In the context of a leader skill, 1c means 1 combo, meaning one match of orbs. When someone asks about a 1c leader skill, it’s a leader skill where you create one orb match to trigger the leader’s leader skill. For example, if you have a card that’s 18x attack for dragons without any conditions that require more matches (x # of combos, X # of colors, etc), that’s a 1c lead. People might also say 1c when they want you to stall. so if you’re in a dungeon and you’re waiting for an active and a guide says 1c, that means just make a match of 3 and don’t do anything else.

People speak like that for two reasons: 1) less typing. 2) it can be a little complicated to explain what you mean otherwise. Saying: “a lead does not require any number of combos or colors where I can just swipe orbs once, make a match, and hit really hard” takes up quite a bit of space. And if you refer to “combo enhancement awakenings”, no one calls them that and a lot of people won’t know if you mean the 7c and 10c awakenings anyway. So it’s short and clear 🙂

      1. Excellent explanation 🏆

I wish there was a glossary or quick reference tho. Abbreviations can be daunting for people trying to learn the game and it’s counter-productive to try doing searches when you don’t know the vernacular terms and the people who do, don’t use the proper (ie. in-game) terms, like “assist” vs “inherit” or “fujin” vs “void damage absorb”.

        Like

        1. Interesting point, when assists were first introduced they were actually called “skill inherits,” and people would frequently refer to them as “SI’s” colloquially

PAD does indeed have a lot of shorthand and abbreviations, but if you stick with the game for awhile, they come as second nature.

PAD Protic (another website) has a glossary of commonly used PAD terms. It’s farm from comprehensive, but it’s a very good start

          1. Great answers overall and another issue is we learn the JP name and call it that until live in NA and its different

Current example is Shura Realm (SR) = World of Carnage (WoC)

        2. I dealt the same way when I started 2.5 years back. I found that by reading Mantastic and Reddit for a few months it all started to click, even though I didn’t understand a lot of it for a while. Kind of like learning a new language, even when it’s not making sense, being exposed to it over time will cause your natural intelligence to figure it out. Pad has been an interesting journey and very rewarding for me. Wishing you all the best. You have already found one of the best resources available in Mantastic, so you are well on your way. Regards.

  13. Why are Ice Armor Ogre’s (#315) colors the opposite of what they should be? “Ice” is the first word in his name, therefore his right side should be blue, following the convention of all 5 other four-star ogres.

  14. Hello!
    Is it still question time?

I would like to know what the purpose of the debuff awakenings are. For the uninitiated, these are awakening skills that reduce stats like HP, ATK, and RCV. They are newish (late 2020), although I’m uncertain exactly what version introduced them.

Under what conditions, team configurations, or leaders/leader-types are these awakenings favorable?

I noticed that many of the Assist Evolutions for thr Mystic Seal (6692), available in the event currently running, have these debuffs for weapons assists.

    Like

    1. these debuffs are usually placed on assists specifically to make them harder to use as many of them are high risk high reward, such as the binding seals that you mentioned, like kukan’s seal having full blind resist and usui’s seal having dragon and healer killers.

the rcv debuffs specifically have the lowest impact on teams with low health pools that dont need as much healing such as touya or teams with already low rcv that use healing systems like safi’jiva, and the hp debuffs work better on teams with high health pools but can work on any team imo, and the attack debuff is the least impactful so it can work on any team i think

      Like

    2. The debuffs are to offset the benefits and are often on farmable cards

I find -ATK the best to use on support cards whereas HP can be risky and RCV dangerous if playing through content like Arenas assuming you don’t use something like Kuroyuri loop to heal

On the other hand, -RCV aids teams who want to be low HP

  15. So, not sure if you wrote something on this already, but are the familiars that drop in this event supposed to be used for anything? They have 4 SB but don’t seem to evolve into anything. They also don’t seem to be used as an evo for anything? I was just trying to figure out if I[‘m supposed to be keeping or using them for something or whether to just sell them. Thanks!

    – Ouki’s Binding Seal
    – Usui’s Binding Seal
    – Shiranaki’s Binding Seal

        Secret invade: 6734 Kyozansai
Spawn requirement: Each of the lower 4 charms (no stats deduction ones) all assisted on your own team (not helper), only from 6:00am until 5:59pm PT

        Secret invade: 5904 Ryuunsai
Spawn requirement: Each of the upper 4 charms (with stats deduction) all assisted, with evo Amakozumi in your team (not helper), only from 6:00pm until 5:59am PT

        1. Sorry, my explanation says “charms” bc it was copied from JP info. On NA, they’re called “seals”, evo’d from the “Mystic Seal” [6692]

  17. On PADx, there is a description for enemy skill “Super Resolve 50” which states,
“Passive. While HP is 50% or above, a single hit that normally kills it will instead leave it with 50% HP”

In the Mystics & Spectres dungeon Fl. 6, to me what it appears to be doing is that any number of hits in one turn that would result in enemy HP going below 50% are reduced so that the maximum damage received will take the enemy HP to 49.9%, or something just below 50%, as the hits seem to result in removing the SR50 indicator, even without a FUA or other bonus damage.

Has this been everyone else’s observations also? Or am I perhaps missing something?
