Chinese Celestial Pantheon Analysis

Please refer to the Master List for directory to the other pantheons and their analysis.

Take a look at my Popular Leaders and their Full Sub List post for inspiration on team building ideas. If contemplating on purchasing a MP Dragon, please check out my Monster Point Dragon Purchasing Check-list Guide.

Keep in mind all of the following monsters qualify for Skill Inheritance so do not be too hasty in selling dupes.

The Chinese Celestials are one of the most loved and oldest pantheons. Perhaps it is because they put the waifu in Puzzle and Waifus or that they were the first full board changer released. Regardless, GungHo has treated them well with a powerful awoken evolution that open up new uses and further augments their power. They generally make stellar mono colour subs and even Awoken Sakuya Sakuya who has always been a high end lead now can be used as a sub for her bind clearing active. Overall a pretty and powerful pantheon.

16x ATK / 51% Damage Reduction

Pros Cons
  • Flexible Leader Skill
  • Can stack fire rows
  • Sub potential on most fire teams
  • Board changer synergy
  • Dual Killer form has farming potential
  • Does not generate heart orbs
  • Leader skill is limiting
Impressions

Leilan has legs to die for along with being a mono red powerhouse with a healthy mixture of offensive and utility based awakenings. Despite not being able to generate heart orbs, Leilan can be a powerful sub on Krishna 3068, Ilm 3235, Minerva 3238, and Tsubaki Ult Tsubaki teams due to the colours she generates along with the potential to combo with various orb changers such as Yamato Bankai Yamato to form a 2/3 fire board.

Leilan’s dual Killer form has niche situational value when farming specific content.

As a leader, Leilan forms a 16x ATK team with 51% damage reduction from Fire, Wood, and Light enemies. Has situational uses and does shine bright in those types of dungeons and is capable of clearing end game content.

Perhaps as GungHo slowly edges away from a heart cross meta will Leilan along with her sisters gain more relevancy.

16x ATK / 51% Damage Reduction

Pros Cons
  • Flexible Leader Skill
  • Can stack water rows
  • Sub potential on some water teams
  • Board changer synergy
  • Dual Killer form has farming potential
  • Cute
  • Does not generate heart orbs
  • Leader skill is limiting
  • Water has a deep pool of board changers
Impressions

Karin has always been a somewhat neglected Chinese Celestial due to the fact that water has historically had powerful full board changers. This still holds true today as water has access to Mori 3103, Blue Sonia Blue Sonia, Ryune Ryune, and Skuld Skuld ult evo who are all able to perform the role better for the most part. Granted Karin may have other board changer synergy that other may not have as she has access to Sitri 2993, Hermes A Hermes, and Hatsume Hatsume, but for the most part, the others are stronger.

Given the fact that she does not do anything better than the other available options, Karin may simply be regulated to an inheritance option on mono dark teams if you require synergy with Pandora Awoken Pandora (which Meimei MeiMei does better).

Regardless, you can still use Karin on mono water teams and her Water/Wood evolution has potential due to her double Killer awakenings.

16x ATK / 51% Damage Reduction

Pros Cons
  • Flexible Leader Skill
  • Powerful awakenings
  • Sub potential on some wood teams
  • Board changer synergy
  • Dual Killer form has farming potential
  • Popular inherit
  • Does not generate heart orbs
  • Leader skill is limiting
Impressions

Meimei may not be your little sister, but she is regaining popularity on mono wood teams with the release of Vishnu 3070 and Reincarnated Bastet 3384 teams. Both of these teams are reliant on TPA awakenings and Meimei’s active skill allows for easy comboing and numerous orbs. All of this translates into a large burst board for either team. Unfortunately, Meimei’s active skill is largely outclassed by Verdandi Verd solely because she generates heart orbs. As such, you may find value in using Meimei’s more offensive body and inheriting a stronger active over top.

With all that being said, Meimei is the perfect inherit on dark teams (excluding stat bonuses) that run Pandora Awoken Pandora as you are able to form a 2/3 dark, 1/3 heart board.

Awoken Sakuya
Sakuya
Dragon / Healer
3,378 HP / 1,570 ATK / 504 RCV

Bind Clear awakening Blind Resist Jammer Resist Skill Lock Resist TPA Time Extend Bind Immune Bind Immune Skill Boost

Active Skill:

3 turn bind clear
10 turn CD

Leader Skill:
5x ATK when matching Fire, Water, Wood, and Light. 1.2x ATK with 6 combos, max 2x with 10+
100x ATK

Pros Cons
  • Scaling leader skill
  • Bind immune, bind clear
  • Situational gravity for resolves
  • Value as an inherit
  • Inconsistent and somewhat low damage leader skill
  • No defensive multiplier
Impressions

Awoken Sakuya was one of the most anticipated evolutions at the time of her release as she was a fan-favourite. At the time, it was a major upgrade as it allowed Sakuya to have both the capacity to clear binds along with the chance to hit 100x ATK. Unfortunately, her leader skill is inconsistent and unreliable as you cannot realistically hit 100x every turn and being left with only 49x-64x with 7 or 8 combos is frustrating. Even though these numbers sound strong on paper, they are quite lackluster in practice as you are forced to match other colours and only able to stack TPA awakenings. As such, row-based teams or even mono-colour TPA teams will easily outclass Sakuya’s damage due to being able to flood the board with their primary colours.

Despite the lower leadership potential, Awoken Sakuya has gained value as a sub on a variety of teams as her bind clear comes with a 20% gravity component. This is unique in the realm of bind clears as you are able to use it offensively to either chunk down a dangerous boss or to help bypass resolve. One of her best homes is on Sherias Roots Sherias Roots as her Dragon typing and water coverage help alleviate team building constraints. In addition, you may also find value inheriting Sakuya to capitalize on her dual purpose active.

Awoken Haku
Haku
God / Healer
3,193 HP / 1,441 ATK / 609 RCV
811 Total
Enhanced Wood Orb Enhanced Wood Orb TPA Skill Lock Resist TPA Skill Boost Skill Boost Time Extend

Active Skill:
All  Arrow Fire Water Dark

9 turn CD

Leader Skill:
4x ATK when matching any 3 of Fire, Water, Dark, or Heal. 30% damage reduction from Fire, Water, and Dark bosses
16x ATK / 51% Damage Reduction

Pros Cons
  • Flexible Leader Skill
  • Powerful awakenings
  • Still relevant as a sub on:
    • Yomi Dragon 3266
    • Aizen 3359
    • Dark Athena 3193
  • Board changer synergy with Akechi 3110
  • Dual Killer form has farming potential
  • Popular inherit
  • Does not generate heart orbs
  • Leader skill is limiting
Impressions

Haku is surprisingly the most powerful Chinese Celestial in this current meta due to the leadership potential of Yomi Dragon 3266, Aizen 3359, and Dark Athena 3193. All three of these leaders are powerful in their own right and Haku’s synergistic awakenings and active skill make her an amazing sub. Furthermore, her board changer has gained more value through Akechi’s 3110 evolution that helps keep him in line with other sub options.

Presently speaking, there is no other dark, fire, +1 tri-colour board changer that leads to a 2/3 enhanced dark board and the Haku Akechi combo remains one of the strongest burst skills (which amusingly also generates heart orbs).
