Who is Ney?
Ney is a brand new 6-star Godfest Exclusive that has 5 unique evolution paths that will alter her usabiltiy across different teams. This also means she will be able to be fully utilized by essentially every single Monster Box and will be a major boon to own.
However, due to her rarity and 5 different forms, you will be somewhat pressured to collect them all. Thankfully, having a Godfest Exclusive with this much flexibility is a great thing as she will almost never go to waste. By comparison, Dark Kali is a phenomenal card to own, but her own viability is restricted to her narrow focus and not all players can fully capitalize on her strengths. As a result, all the Ney-sayers towards new Godfest Exclusives should be somewhat content with the introduction of Ney as she will not go to waste.
As a result, Ney will debut on my tier list as S.
Which Ney is best for me?
Once you are fortunate enough to roll Ney, the hardest decision that rivals your starter Pokemon will be which Evolution you wish to pursue. While your choice can be reversed, you will lose any Skill Up Progress along with tedious/challenging to acquire materials.
All the Neys possess tri-elemental board changers that can produce heart orbs. While they lack a Follow Up Attack awakening, they can help set up a kill board with the appropriate support. Furthermore, their dual TPA
and 7 Combo
awakenings enable them to deal spectacular damage on combo-focused teams. These kit hold true across all evolutions as they share the same set of awakenings.
Impressions
Upon Ney’s release, Fire Ney will probably be the second least used of the 5 evolution paths. This is because she does not currently fit well on any current team as a sub and will find the most use on the future Fire Myr. However, she is still capable of leading a formidable team if you are able to heavily stack 7 Combo awakenings.
49x ATK is quite low in this day and age, but each 7 Combo adds 2x and can quickly propel the damage upwards when you factor in mono-colour and orb changers. Furthermore, all Neys have the passive ability to add 2 seconds to orb movement time as a leader. This effectively grants them 4 Time Extend awakenings, but only takes effect when used as a leader. Sadly, the shielding component of her leader skill is tied to damage activation and having two specific orbs present.
Impressions
Water Ney’s main strength outside of leading a potent team is her sub potential on Blue Hunter teams. Blue Hunter is the most accessible leader for coop play as in theory, all players have access to him. While Blue Hunter has no actual sub restrictions, it is best to try and be as mono-water as possible to concentrate your damage and be better able to capitalize upon ideal orb changers. As a result, Water Ney will find tremendous value as she can act as one of your hardest hitting subs.
Perhaps having a board changer that mirrors Ryune is problematic as it is not truly unique; however, Dark Athena teams may enjoy the extra healing (which has more value on HP-boosted teams) along with the bind clear. Thus, it can be a powerful inherit on Dark Athena herself to abuse her bind immunity.
Blue Ney’s leadership potential follows the same train of thought as her cousins: potent when heavily stacking 7 Combo and mono colour subs.
Impressions
Wood Ney has the best potential to pair with Diablos due to them sharing wood as their primary element. While in theory you can use any Ney you wish, none of the other can produce wood orbs and you will be losing out on some damage overall.
By pairing with Diablos , you are actually increasing your damage multiplier (8.5x instead of 7x) along with gaining a 7×6 board. However, you do lose out on a more versatile active and one 7 Combo awakening, but these are fair trades overall.
In addition to Diablos pairings, Wood Ney can often act as a potent Anubis sub. This is because you are often building Anubis teams with Diablos and are often Dark, Wood, or Light heavy. As a result, you can effectively use Ney for both her passive damage and powerful active.
Finally, Wood Ney has incredible applications on the future Godfest Exclusive Kamimusubi teams. Kamimusubi requires both wood and dark orbs for activation along with an HP-clause tied to their maximum damage multiplier.
Copying Mitsunari’s orb change can be seen as a drawback due to not being unique, but it is one of the more effective colour combos available.
Impressions
Light Ney has the most potency as a sub across meta teams as she can be wonderfully utilized on Anubis and Yog
.
Anubis teams are often build Dark, Light, or Wood heavy (especially if paired with Diablos) and this enables Light Ney’s active to be particularly effective. However, Ney truly shines on Yog teams due to both the board change, but the 25% healing component. This is because Yog teams must stay above 80% HP to achieve their full multiplier and having another offensive/defensive active is a massive boon.
Aside from these two stellar sub options, Light Ney follows the same path as her cousins from a leadership point of view.
Impressions
Dark Ney will be the least popular evolution of the series as she is the only one who produces Jammer orbs. I am still not sold on the Jammer meta even though the Fenrirs are receiving new and powerful evolutions. This is because cards that create Jammer orbs have little merit on traditional teams and will push Dark Ney out of popularity.
Conclusion
Ney is the start of an exciting trend for Godfest Exclusives as she has 5 unique evolution paths. Having 5 different options will ensure all players are able to utilize her and will not go to waste as some cards are more niche/specialized by comparison.
Which Ney evolution do you plan to make and how hard do you plan to roll in the Godfest to acquire her?
And just remember, Maybe she is born with it, Maybe it’s Ney-beline.
Happy Puzzling!

Two comments:
1) Diablos is 8.5x, not 8x.
2) Fire Ney works really well on cthugha teams. While they are less popular than Yog teams, they are still very powerful and can take advantage of the 25% heal. Since cthugha only needs 50% instead of yog’s 80%, 25% is significantly more likely to help reach the HP threshold. Cthugha also often has more of a tpa focus, which Ney can utilize, particularly due to the easily accessible kuvia compared to WScheat for yog or normal scheat for BHunter and the lower combo multiplier (maxes at 7 allows for tpa focus instead of combo focus). While this wont change the fact that Fire Ney will likely stay the second least popular until RMyr comes out, I felt it was worth mentioning.

Thank you for the Diablos note, article has been changed =)
As for Cthugha, i am personally not a huge fan because they need so many things to go well for them
-lack of bind immunity
-HP clause multiplier
-Damage mitigation (and some damage) is tied to combos — makes it hard to feasibly stall
-No built in heal like Yog
Like he can still clear challenging content, but it takes far more effort/investment imo
Thus, I feel you would be making an average/good team a bit better but you may have more merits on other teams at this point in time

Pretty cool card. I’ll take my shots at it and sell the 4 thumbelinas I’ll get instead.

Maybe I’m meta-static (get it?) but I’m not seeing what makes RMyr any better than the old ones – crosses are dead.

High multiplier combined with 7c and defensive traits. It may sadly become more dated by the time we actually get her

Unless pdx is wrong, looks like Dark Ney is only 6x, not 7x like the other four.

Any comments re: leaving Ney unevolved? Stats only being around 800 or so…

Would possess a dark Kali style board changer and less awakenings. Probably better off evolving tbh

Arent green and yellow ney slightly better because of their balanced type? (Dragon killers)

Well it also depends on the type of team you wish to use them on and whether or not you can capitalize on their killers/7c
What I mean by this is that Mito is somewhat the queen of Devil Killing and is used on carry set ups for CTA and would be far better than a latent-ed Ney
Essentially, the flexible killers is great, but is may or may not be hard to make use of both 7c and killers overall

I’m the weird guy that makes dark Ney. There’s tons of orb changers that swap jammers and for most burst boards you’re using two actives anyway. There’s a lot of potent dark 7c subs to suppliment her too and satsuki finally has a home with a dark Ney lead.

That is a good point about Subaki, but without a jammer converter (really it is Subaki) it can be problematic. Escha/castor will make a full board of dark which doesnt help etc
Regardless, if she can help/benefit you and your subaki, I would go for it =)

Hey Mantastic, What do you think about a team of Light Ney, Yuna, Yuna, Diaochan, and Hathor? Got enough 7c awakenings?

My main concern would not be the 7c, but the orb changers. Granted dark/light is a weird combo, but would need to heavily inherit to have orbs

Hey Mantastic, what are your thoughts on a Wood New x Diabolos team with something like Awoken Perseus, Reincarnated Meimei, Green Sonia or Romia as Subs?

Could work pretty well overall! Ney n diablos are the best pairings from all the Neys

Interesing team here utilizing Light Ney as the sub. I have named it, the prestige. Yog leader, Light Ney, Light Scheat, Ra Dragon, Orpharion, Yog helper. Any prevailing thoughts, opinions, or concerns?

Ra Dragon is out of place due to no helpful active. Would be better replaced by Orpharion for more SB and short base CD
