Valentine’s REM Review and Analysis – February 2021

Introduction

The Valentine’s REM returns to North America and offers several new cards and various buffs in the hopes of enticing players to spend their Magic Stones.

As a whole, Seasonal REMs are underwhelming affairs as their bottom rarity cards are often many years old and severely neglected to the point that they serve no purpose outside of a Box Cheerleader.

Sadly, this is the case here as I do not feel any of the 5-star cards have any meaningful value and the Gemstone alts at the 6-star rarity have dramatically declined in value over the years. As a result, this event will be a lackluster affair to roll in and if you are truly interested in any of the top rarity cards, Monster Exchanging would be a better approach compared to rolling.

Valentine’s REM Review and Analysis

Introduction

This Valentine’s Day, North American players will be enjoying the Valentine’s REM on time! This may be great to help you get into the spirit of love, but the event as a whole is quite unlovable.

This is because this egg machine is average overall with no outstanding prize card. This can be further compounded by poor rolling rates for the top tier cards with the only saving grace being the Gemstone Princess equivalents boasting a 7.5% roll rate.

For the most part, these Gemstone Princesses function like their REM equivalent and only lose value if one owns them already.

For the most part, this is a skip-able event unless one enjoys the artwork or strongly desires a Gemstone Princess.

[First Impressions] DBDC Buffs + New Cards & Sonia, Ney, Cotton, and More Buffs

Introduction

On my YT YouTube channel, I often release First Impression Videos that summarize my initial thoughts on new content being released in JP if it is significant/meaningful overall.

As such, I decided to chime in my thoughts on the new Dragonbound & Dragon Caller cards along with significant buffs to existing cards. While this video can be educational, it is also an indication that DBDC will be coming back to North America in 2-3 months. As such, it may be wise to save your Magic Stones as it is arguably the highest value event in Puzzle and Dragons.

Video

I forgot to mention that players can use the Monster Exchange to acquire 7* DBDC cards by trading in 5 rare Collab cards (7*+). This is an outrageously high cost and will not be applicable for the vast majority of the player base. With that being said, it can help those who have either been lucky or rolled excessively clean out their unwanted rare cards for something truly valuable.

Conclusion

Dragonbound & Dragon Caller should be coming back to North America in 2-3 months time so one may wish to start saving Magic Stones for this exciting event.

Let me know what you think about the new cards along with sizable buffs to Sonia, Ney, and Cotton.

Happy Puzzling!

Kiriko, I mean Shinrabansho Collab REM Overview

Introduction

The Shinrabansho Collab is returning to Puzzle and Dragons with some minor upgrades and evolutions. Unfortunately, it is mostly a story of too little, too late to have any real viability outside of Kiriko 1973 as a powerful sub on the new Xiang Mei Xiang Mei. Even with the introduction of a re-coloured (non-awoken) Sakuya Shin Sakuya, Sonia Shin Sonia, and Athena Shin Athena,  the quality and quantity of the rare rolls is horribly lacking. The cards are quite underwhelming and it would be wise to not roll as you are more likely to pull more Uriels Uriel, Gadius Gadius, or collect enough MP for another Xiang Mei before rolling Kiriko (or anything of real value).

As with any Collab REM, any monster who can achieve at least a 5-star rarity can qualify as an assistant for Skill Inheritance. Therefore, you should think carefully before hastily selling your rolls. If you have not already, I highly encourage you to read my Skill Inheritance Guide.

All I Want for Christmas is…a Snow Globe?

I can’t believe this will be my third Puzzle and Dragons Christmas and every year it gets bigger and better! Gung-Ho has consistently been stepping up their game in terms of the number events, content being released, and magic stone/tamadras/pii give-aways. Tomorrow, we get the revamped Christmas Dungeon with the top difficulty being amusingly named SuperBlessed. I dearly hope the dungeon features festive music (I still do not understand people who play with the sound off) as that helped me get into the Christmas spirit and combined my favourite time of year with my love for PAD.
