Directors Choice Godfest Review and Analysis

Godfest basics

When making the decision to roll or save your magic stones, you need to determine if the featured pantheons can benefit or complement your teams. Chasing for one specific monster is unwise as you will most likely be disappointed and should ideally have Godfests that overlap with many target cards. Remember all monsters that come out of the REM will qualify for Skill Inheritance so do not be too hasty when selling dupes. If you are considering to purchase any of the Monster Point cards, please refer to my updated November Article for help and advice.

I also encourage you to visit my discord Discord server as it is full of knowledgeable and friendly people.

Introduction

The Director’s Choice Godfest could be thought of as a way to close out 2017 on what is hopefully a high note. However, it is going to be challenging to top the recent Dragonbound & Dragon Caller event and many players are also low on Stones from King of Fighters.

Unfortunately, the Director’s Choice Godfest will fail to impress as it features 30 GFE but Cotton  and Kami  will not be featured. Furthermore, GFE have only a 5x rate and the added bonus is that they come out evolved, awakened, level 50, and +50 to a random stat (+50 applies to all rolls).

The evolved/awoken part saves you minor resources but is nothing special in this day and age and by skipping their first evolution, some collectors will not be able to fill up their Monster Book.

Finally, there are no featured Pantheon cards and we could be facing a relatively lackluster Godfest overall.

Ranking the cards – Pantheons & GFE

These rankings I assign cards are my own and take into consideration the card’s value as a leader, sub, inherit, and possibly any niche role they fulfill. In order to rank in the highest tier, the card has to excel in their respective role and cannot feasibly be replaced by anyone else. This can also be thought of as a Best in Slot card and tends to have applications on the top tier teams.

Despite my best to remain neutral, there is always the potential for bias and you need to be able to examine a card and determine if it can benefit your unique Monster Box and situation. Continue reading Directors Choice Godfest Review and Analysis

[PSA] January Monthly Quests – Problematic Scheduling

Introduction

Monthly Quests are one of the better things to come to Puzzle and Dragons in the later part of 2017. These series of quests provide much needed structure and direction to newer players as they now have an obvious goal to pursue as PAD can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Most of us have become accustomed to the Monthly Quest Dungeon tab in the Specials section and could play/complete them any our convenience. Unfortunately, January’s Quests will be far more challenging to clear properly as it removes the monthly window to complete them. Instead you now have to clear specific dungeons on specific days of the month along with it being poorly highlighted/visible overall.

This series of Quests caused issues for many JP players and I find it strange GungHo is repeating a poorly designed scheduale again. Nevertheless, this article/PSA will hopefully reach enough people and better explain how to fully complete January’s Quests.

Monthly Quests

As a whole, the Monthly Quests concept is amazing and provides wonderful direction for newer players as it presents a tangible goal to achieve that is only available for a limited time. The lack of direction was one is often cited as a major hurdle for newer players starting out as you go from a basic tutorial to relying on third party websites/databases for information and guidance. King of Fighters Collab is Coming to NA/EU

Introduction

In a surprise turn of events, GungHo is releasing King of Fighters Collab across all regions at the same time. This goes against the norm of 2-3 month delay and in theory positions these cards well against Powercreep for NA/EU.

This is because we are used to receiving cards 2-3 months after JP and by having them now, it helps “future-proof” them for a longer time. As a result, these cards are quite powerful along with opening up new opportunities for Monster Box compositions.

Video commentary

At this point in time, puzzledragonx does not have the cards on their database which makes it challenging for me to make a review as I rely on their information and icons to do so.

As a result, I made a psuedo-First Impressions video based on GHNA’s Facebook announcement. The information within and the comments section should help give a relative idea of what to expect.

Written commentary

I enjoy the process I have for writing articles but with the padx delay and personal health issues (I have been unable to properly walk let alone stand up since last Sunday and sitting is horribly painful), it has made it challenging to create content. Greco-Roman 3 Review

Introduction

The Greco-Roman 3 series is a new Pantheon consisting of 6-star base cards. This means they will harder to roll than other Pantheon cards but are compensated by powerful actives and awakenings.

While the series has 5 different cards, you essentially have 10 different monsters as the active skill dramatically changes from base to Awoken form.

This article will summerize my thoughts on the series as well as provide advice as how to maximize their performance.

Two distinct forms

The Greco-Roman 3 Pantheon is similar to the Samurai 2 in that their base and Awoken form dramatically changes their usage.

Base form

The base form of the Greco-Roman 3 Pantheon all possess a 4-elemental board changer (that makes hearts) along with 1 turn of colour absorb void. This means you are able to bypass encounters like Noah Dragon a bit more more easily as you can void/ignore the colour absorption mechanic. Continue reading Greco-Roman 3 Review

Limit Breaking

Limit Breaking is the ability to enable a monster to push beyond level 99 and eventually reach 110. This 11 extra levels will grant your card improved base stats but the cost is exceptionally high. Just bear in mind that only certain cards are able to Limit Break and the full list can be found HERE. Continue reading Version 12.3.3 Update and Changes

Dragonbound & Dragon Caller Egg Machine Review and Analysis – December 2017

Introduction

The Dragonbound & Dragon Caller Egg Machine is one of the most highly anticipated events to come to NA/EU as it features brand new and powerful monsters who will shift up the end game meta.

There was a great deal of wonder and worry as to whether or not we would be receiving this REM but thankfully, this event somewhat mirrors the Heroine one. This is because both the Heroine and Dragonbound/Caller machines are part of a Collaboration or seasonal event as well as costing 10 Magic Stones per roll.

While 10 stones may seem steep compared to the norm of 5, the Dragonbound and Dragon Caller REM contains incredible cards overall at all rarity values and is worth rolling (heavily) in.

Powercreep and timing

Powercreep is the notion that newer cards/evolutions tend to outpace/replace older or existing options. This is an essential aspect of any longstanding game and the key to success is releasing it at a steady rate instead of leaps and bounds.

Thankfully, one unique and wonderful aspect of Puzzle and Dragons is that cards go through cyclic patterns of dominance and inadequacy. Thus, a strong card of the past has a decent chance of becoming relevant again in the future. Continue reading Dragonbound & Dragon Caller Egg Machine Review and Analysis – December 2017
