The GungHo Collab Super Godfest has blessed me with Dark Karin who has quickly become my favourite leader for farming Arena 5. This is because she combines ease of activation, high and consistent damage, along with flexible team building options that can cover all the required mechanics.
This article will be solely focusing on Dark Karin’s ability to clear Arena 5 and will look at mechanics/counters are required, her strengths and weaknesses, and team building compositions.
As with any leader, the team used should be customized to the dungeon at hand and this article will be solely focusing on Arena 5.

Arena 5 mechanics
Arena 5 is often considered the best Arena to farm due to the fact that it provides a hefty amount of Rank experience, two Killer latents (Dragon, Devil, etc.), and a singly Py. Furthermore, the difficulty level has become significantly easier over time due to the introduction of spicier leaders and more options to counter the various mechanics. Team building in Puzzle and Dragons is an invaluable skill as it enables players to examine a dungeon and determine the best approach possible. Over the course of many years, the strategies used for team building have changed as it is largely defined by the types of mechanics players will face and what tools are currently available.
Presently speaking, the top tier teams are those that have high amounts of effective health (whether through HP or damage reduction) in order to withstand outrageously large preemptives or attacks. Unfortunately, just using a strong leader is not enough and having the right subs, inherits, and latents is mandatory to success.
Nowadays, players are able to better customize their teams to counter dungeons as we now have access to more inherits, latents, weapon assists, specialized awakenings, and more counters to common mechanics.
This article will be focusing on how to build a team to counter the dungeon at hand instead of specifically saying one must use XYZ team to succeed. In addition, I will be presenting some generic team building ideas for some of the more popular leaders today.

PAD is a Puzzle game
This may seem like a redundant statement, but Puzzle and Dragons requires both orb matching skills as well as planning for the dungeon. All mechanics have some sort of counter and it is up to the player to determine the most efficient way to do so without compromising the overall team composition. Yusuke is the newest craze to come to NA Puzzle and Dragons as he is one of the best leaders in the game along with being an amazingly powerful sub. Furthermore, he will be one of the most widely available cards due to the fact that he is available to trade in for via the Monster Exchange System (can read more about that HERE).
These factors have led us into a throwback to Dark Athena era as a large chunk of player’s friend list may now be populated by Yusuke.
This article will summarize my thoughts and rationale for building a Yusuke team; however, team building is more about countering the dungeon mechanics and somewhat removes the notion of “perfect set ups.” As such, I find it best to understand how each sub functions as well as Yusuke’s strengths and weaknesses.

Yusuke at a glance
Active: Reduces cooldown of other skills by 1 turn. Removes lock status on orbs. Change all orbs to Water & Light orbs (13 turn CD)
Leader Skill: Light attribute cards HP x1.5, ATK x1.5, RCV x1.5. All attribute cards ATK x4 when reaching 7 combos or above. All attribute cards ATK x2.5 when reaching Light & Water combos

Sarasvati is the one of the newest monster to be released that is capable of achieving 100x ATK. However, what sets her apart from the other high multiplier leads is the ease in which she can hit skyhigh numbers along with being able to stack water rows and a permenant skyfall buff. Sarasvati perfectly fits the term Glass-Cannon as she lacks any defensive multiplier and can have issues stalling along with being quite orb hungry. However, if you can overcome these shortcomings while being choosy with which dungeons you tackle with her, you will be greatly rewarded.
