[Small PSA] Reminder on how Limit Breaking and Super Awakenings Work

Introduction

GungHo NA ha released a massive amount of content last night that includes numerous changes to existing monsters that include new evolutions, Limit Breaking, and Super Awakenings.

This post is meant to be a gentle refresher on how Limit Breaking and Super Awakenings work. However, you can also read my full detailed guide HERE.

Full details of the new content released can be found through the following GHNA Facebook links:

Super Awakenings/Limit Breaking

New Evolutions

Limit Breaking

Limit breaking is the process of raising a monster’s level beyond 99 can is accomplished by fusing a Super Snow Globe. However, only certain monsters qualify for Limit Breaking and is indicated by their Max Lvl text being blue:

From the above image, Goemon on the left cannot be Limit Broken but Yamato (right) can.

Thus, if you fuse a Super Snow Globe into Yamato, you will allow him to push beyond level 99. Just be aware that the experience required to bring a card to level 110 is exceptionally expensive from a monster experience point of view.

Super Awakenings

Super awakenings are a special process that enables a card to gain an additional awakening. This can dramatically improve a monster’s viability and is worth pursuing provided you mean the following criteria:

  • Must be Limit Broken (does not need to be level 110)
    • Not all cards can be Limit Broken
      • Not all Limit Broken cards can receive a Super Awakening
  • Already be +297
  • Sacrifice a +297 for a random Super Awakening
    • Can be any combination of pluses as long as it adds up to 297
  • Works only in solo mode

Provided you have already Limit Broken a card, you should see a [?] box beside the monster’s original awakenings. If this is present, you will be able to fuse a +297 to unlock one of three Super Awakenings.

Conclusion

Limit Breaking and Super Awakenings are an expensive investment but can enable you to push further into end game content. However, always make sure a card qualifies for either mechanic before investing resources.

On a side note, Heroine REM Review will be released this weekend.

April 14-15 Godfest Overview

 Godfest Basics

The format for Godfests has been dramatically changed through their REM Renewal along with Full Disclosure of Rolling Rates. These changes dramatically improve your chances of rolling a specific card as the pool of available monsters is significantly smaller as only a portion of the all possible monsters are featured at a given time. This is great news for players as you are better able to focus your Magic Stones on key cards.

Godfests no longer advertise “rate increases” and instead Highlighted specific cards along with 6* Godfest Exclusives being available. As such, these events are the best time to roll the REM as the current meta is heavily favouring these rare and elusive monsters.

Rolling rates may change or vary with each Godfest event and some 6* GFE may have higher rolling rates.

Introduction

The upcoming Godfest begins on April 14 and runs until April 15 and will once again feature twenty 6-star Godfest Exclusives. While the overall roster is reasonable overall, the GHNA Facebook page annoucned that Heroine REM will return this coming Monday.

With this in mind, it is better to hold off rolling in this Godfest and instead spend your Magic Stones on Heroine as it does hold numerous key and powerful cards. Just remember that Godfests will always be here and this current roster is average overall.

On a different note, the Twitch Stream will also announce the winner of the MP Survey which may also influence the decision to roll in future Godfests. On a somewhat side note, if you are desperate for MP, Heroine has a better ratio of MP to Stone consumption if selling off rolls.

As with any Godfest, the decision of whether to roll or not will be dependent on your own Monster Box and individual needs.

You can read the most recent Godfest review HERE. Continue reading April 14-15 Godfest Overview

MP Shop Survey & Future GFE Trading Post

Introduction

GungHo North America has released the highly anticipated Monster Point Shop Survey that will enable the player base to vote for a specific 6* GFE to be featured for purchase for a limited time. You can purchase this card as many times as you wish.

This is an exciting time and is akin to Player’s Choice Godfest in which there will be controversy and players telling you to vote for XYZ cards. Naturally, what may be good for certain boxes may be inappropriate for yourself and it is still best to vote for what can benefit you the most. However, your vote should be as future-proof as possible as you want to have value from your purchase many months down the road.

This article will summarize who I feel will be the top voted cards as well as discussing the invaluable Future GFE Trading Post that JP enjoys.

You can vote for your favourite card HERE.

Regardless of the outcome I strongly discourage selling your 6* GFE fro 50,000 Monster Points as they are currently receiving new evolutions along with having the capability to trade four (200,000 MP) for a card of your choice. Continue reading MP Shop Survey & Future GFE Trading Post

March 31 – April 1 Godfest Overview plus Preview for future Kaede, Fujin, and Raijin Evolutions

Introduction

The upcoming Godfest begins on March 31st and runs until April 1st and will once again feature twenty 6-star GFE. This current line up is reasonable overall but just remember that you only have to wait around 2 weeks for another Godfest to come back.

With that being said, it may be advantageous to wait for the official GungHo NA stream on Friday evening in case they tease a new Collab or Seasonal REM. This is because Puzzle and Dragons is slowly becoming more dependent on rare Collab cards and it may be best to save your Magic Stones for those events.

On the bright side, all players will receive a free Rank 50 roll for this Godfest.

As with any Godfest, the decision of whether to roll or not will be dependent on your own Monster Box and individual needs.

Puzzle and Dragons Frequently Asked Questions

Introduction

Puzzle and Dragons is one of the oldest and complex mobile games on the market. This can be attributed to it’s 6+ years of existence that has put players through a roller coaster ride of different metas, strategies, and mechanics. While the actual injection of Powercreep is reasonable for someone who has been playing for years, it can become quite overwhelming if you are new to the game.

This article will attempt to answer the more common questions new players may have and any feedback or suggestions are welcomed. I will be focusing on terminology, Box management, explaining the various mechanics, and answering what I feel are pressing questions for newer players.

This page will attempt to answer the more common questions and will provide links to my other articles if you wish to read a more detailed analysis.

Valentine’s REM Review and Analysis – March 2018

Introduction

Love is Patient, Love is Kind, PAD Valentine’s REM occurs in March. While you may have spent all of your Magic Stones on Full Metal Alchemist, this seasonal REM is reasonable, but not as game changing overall.

For the most part, there is only one true chase card but the sprinkling of Gemstone Princesses does provide value at the lower rarities. This is important as these types of actives are the most reliable/universal way to provide damage enhancement for your teams. Furthermore, while the Chinese Celestials offered in this event are lackluster for end game players, they may be the easiest source of board changing for a newer player.

Finally, all of the cards featured in this REM are adorable and may help bring your Waifu to Laifu.

There are currently no updated pages for each of the cards on padx, but you can refer to their initial news post HERE.

March 17-18 Godfest Overview

The upcoming Godfest begins on March 17th and runs until March 18th and will once again feature 20 6-star GFE. This current line up is reasonable overall but just remember that you only have to wait around 2 weeks for another Godfest to come back.

With that being said, there is some speculation that the Valentine’s Day REM will make a return soon if we judge from the cooking contest GungHo NA announced, but just bear in mind that it could be another month or two away.

As with any Godfest, the decision of whether to roll or not will be dependent on your own Monster Box and individual needs.

Indigo Tournament – Tips and Strategies

Introduction

The Indigo Tournament is another chance for players to try and achieve a new high score to unlock various rewards. This include in-game items, cosmetic upgrades, and solo mode badge quest credit along with a Magic Stone for the first clear.

Unfortunately, this ranking dungeon has a fairly rigid set up for success and hopefully you have ample Killer cards at your disposal.

This article will summerize the dungeon along with explaining the rationale behind building a successful team.

[Video] My First Alt. Arena Clear – Team & Thought Process

Introduction

Alt. Arena (often times referred to as A4) is considered the hardest dungeon in the game and I finally got around to seriously attempting it. The dungeon features many of your “favourite” spawns which have added mechanics, boosted stats, as well as some brand new horrors.

Things such as 145,000 preemptives, damage voids, resolves, and hundreds of millions of health are common occurrences and it takes both luck and planning to succeed.

Video clear

I decided it was time to stop putting off A4 after rolling Edward  and teamed up with either Virtual or Darksworn for both stamina efficacy and greater access to key actives (current solo record was death on floor 17).

Team composition

My team is far from optimal and simply have to make due with what is at my disposal. Do note that Sheen Sheen is preferred over Carat Carat as I have more Time Extends Time Extend than Skill Boosts Skill Boost. I am only showing the Killer latents and the rests is filled by SDR Skill delay resist.

Arena 4 Edward
Inherit Carat 3193 3449

Card

God Killer God Killer

Yuna
Dragon Killer Dragon Killer Dragon Killer
3264
Healer Killer

God Killer God Killer

Machine Killer Machine Killer

Healer Killer Healer Killer

God Killer God Killer
Inherit 3414 3386

This composition is far from ideal so just use it as a starting point for planning out your runs. The Rathian  inherit is in his Weapon to provide passive 60% poison orb resist. This is quite amazing as it can allow you to avoid some of the more nasty mechanics.

With that being said, I plan to modify our teams slightly moving forward:

Arena 4 Edward
Inherit Carat Zeta Hydra 3449

Card

God Killer God Killer

physical killer physical killer
Yuna
Dragon Killer Dragon Killer Dragon Killer
3264
Healer Killer

God Killer God Killer

Machine Killer Machine Killer

Healer Killer Healer Killer

God Killer God Killer
Inherit 3414

Bringing longer delays can help stall out problematic spawns and the additional cooldown is a fair compromise overall. By changing my Nees inherit to Sasuke’s weapon assist, our teams can guarantee 100% poison resist. Just remember to leave both the Sasuke and Rathian Weapon assists at Skill Level 1 to help avoid overwriting the stronger base active.

Conclusion

Arena 4 is an exciting, albeit ridiculous dungeon that is heavily reliant on research, planning, puzzling skills, and luck. I plan to continuously play Alt. Arena along with streaming my adventures moving forward.

Let me know if you have attempted Arena 4 and how successful you were in the comments below.

Full Metal Alchemist Collab Review and Analysis – March 2018

Introduction

The Full Metal Alchemist Collab is one of the most highly anticipated events to come to North America as it features the game changing Edward . Unfortunately, the rest of the Collab is mediocre as a whole since most of the other cards have niche or situational value at best.

This leads to an unfortunate conundrum as one of the best cards in the game can be acquired here but you also run the large risk of rolling numerous fodder cards instead. Comparing Full Metal Alchemist to events such as Heroine, Dragon Bound & Dragon Caller, and Monster Hunter, the lack of value at the bottom (and even the top excluding Edward) may make it challenging for many players to spend their Magic Stones. Granted Full Metal Alchemist is only priced at 5 Magic Stones per roll, it may just result in you being disappointed twice as often.

As such, the decision of whether to roll or not to roll will still come down to individual preference and how much you value the cards outside of general usability.
