Popular Leaders and Their Full Sub List with Inheritance Options

I am in the process of updating this list over the next week or two and work from the top down so somethings will still be outdated/missing in the meantime.

Introduction

Due to the ever changing dynamic of team building through Skill Inheritance, team building has either become more flexible or more rigid. It becomes more flexible due to the fact that you can use almost any card as a sub and fill in the blanks via inheritance. However, this does eventually lead to a more rigid team building experience as you will end up using similar powerful bases and supplementing with appropriate assists.

As such, I have been trying to determine how I can have this list reflect both aspects of team building. Listing subs that fulfill specific roles is helpful, but may become misleading once you begin to acquire more cards to play around with. Thus, I will try my best to list higher tier subs along with other options and include a massive inheritance chart at the beginning you can use to fill in the gaps.

When deciding which leader and team you want to invest in, you ideally want to find a balance between a deep and diverse sub pool combined with a love for their playstyle that suits your personality and matching skills. Even leaders who are not popular in the meta are capable of clearing high end content provided you have a synergetic team and passion for their gameplay.

Furthermore, you should try to balance the subs/actives you bring to ensure a healthy mixture of quick orb changers, damage enhancing, and defensive utility. When trying to determine if you require a bind clearing sub, you must take into account how dangerous the bind is and whether you can stall through it or avoid it. If you are able to avoid the bind by bursting through the boss before they are able to attack, it may be best to do so as bind clearing subs tend to bring little to the party aside from their active. Lastly, leaders with higher multipliers are more reliant on consistency and survivability over offensive actives as the sheer strength of their leader skill can sweep most floors.

Popular leaders sorted by category

When trying to find a particular leader in this post, it is best to use the ctrl + F (search) feature. Otherwise, the leaders are colour sorted in no particular order. Due to the sheer size of this ever growing list, I may have trimmed out lesser leaders and simply put their names alongside other cards that are similar to them (eg. placing other rainbow leaders alongside Ra if similar).

I am not including the button farming coop teams.

Skill Inheritance

Skill Inheritance has become a vital part of the Puzzle and Dragons meta as it allows you to utilize desirable active skills from cards that would not be ideal to run as subs. This also enables you to better customize your team to your liking and address any dangerous mechanic the dungeon can throw at you. I encourage you to read my revamped Skill Inheritance Guide to better understand all the changes that have been made and how to better utilize this mechanic.

Below is for the most part, a full overview of the various inheritance options you can use sorted by categories. For full board changers, you can utilize off-colour inherits provided they generate your desired element. However, if possible, you should try to use same attribute inherit and base to take advantage of the stat transfer feature.

I will miss you Arena 1 =(

Arena 1 will be removed this evening from its permanent slot as a technical dungeon and will be replaced by the even more ridiculous Arena 2. As such, I have been frantically trying to complete as many runs as possible before tonight’s maintenance and will hopefully have a Mantastic post ready by then that I have been working on for quite some time.

However, I just wanted to share my first 1-shot of the Kali boss through her 50% shield with my Awoken Lucifer Awoken Archdemon Lucifer team. It felt pretty amazing to hit over 30 million through a 50% damage reduction shield and I giggling for about 5 minutes after. The God Killer God Killer awakenings give my two leaders 3x the damage shown and you can somewhat see the 10 million hit in the image.

[Video] Mantastic vs Tengu Strategy

No one likes low cost restricted dungeons and this round of Challenge Descends features Tengu. Low cost mostly gate keeps newer players as they have not had to grind through dungeons with farmable monsters as everything is sped up. As such, most people may lack a feasible team to tackle a 12 cost dungeon. Hopefully my first video attempt with Mantastic does not have horrible audio and my (muffled) walk through commentary aids players in their quest for a Water Snowglobe. Maybe watching it in mute may be less unpleasant…

I am still quite proud of my max skilled King Bubblie King Bubblie from my Physical Sakuya days and not having to wait for his active is a significant boost in power.

Let me know what you used to tackle this annoying dungeon in the comments below.

Awoken Lucifer vs Arena

This is by no means a full team building guide (one may come in the future for Awoken Archdemon Lucifer) and I simply wanted to showcase how I use Awoken Lucifer Awoken Archdemon Lucifer to clear Arena 1 with reasonable consistency.  Arena  is a gruelling 21 floors and requires a high end team along with careful planning and a little luck to clear successfully.  Furthermore, the floor spawns are drawn randomly from several fixed monsters and no two Arena runs will be the same. This also means it is possible to get horrible (or amazing) luck as challenging bosses may repeatedly spawn.

Arena DQ Hera
Such a scary pre-emptive

Awoken Archdemon Lucifer has the inherent advantage of producing a very durable team due to 1.82x HP/RCV along with 16.4x ATK to devil and god type monsters. This alleviates the need to bring any form of damage mitigation as you can survive the largest pre-emptive strike on floor 19 and the God Killer God Killer awakening helps burst through the final floors. However, to tackle Arena, Awoken Archdemon Lucifer teams require certain key subs/role fulfilment: Continue reading Awoken Lucifer vs Arena

One Shot Challenge Level 9 & 10 Cleared

This round of One Shot Challenges gives players the chance to obtain up to 10 magic stones along with random piis, jewels, and other helpful rewards. However, the higher end floors are played on a 7×6 board and this presents an extra challenge through absorption shields and having boss mechanics augments to compensate for the bigger board. 7×6 boards place a heavier emphasis on dealing massive amounts of damage due to having access to 42 orbs. However, even with the additional 12 orbs, we do not have additional time extend to fully utilize their potential.

Challenge 9 imposes the dreaded no awakenings restriction, but it is not as dangerous as it seems because the first floor only requires you to match jammers while the random pii Shynpy floor can be bypassed with poison or other nukes.

I used what could have been a fully farmable Sakuya Sakuya team for Mantastic and Awoken Yomi Awoken Yomi was mostly insurance for the final floor with the bonus movement time through their active. Echidna Echidna or any other delay is to make the fourth floor safer as you can ensure using active skills for the boss if needed. Continue reading One Shot Challenge Level 9 & 10 Cleared

Mechanical Star Series 2 Pantheon and Fenrir Impressions

GungHo recently announced a brand new pantheon (Constellation 2) along with 1 more godfest exclusive. All of the Constellation 2 characters have the machine / god typing and the new GFE is devil / attacker. Denebola Denebola , Acubens Acubens , and Algedi Algedi all possess the coveted God Killer God Killer awakening (3x damage for that monster versus god type enemies) along with unique actives that randomly spawn 3 orbs of their primary colour along with 3 jammers on 3-turn cooldown. Furthermore, their leader skill is reliant on matching jammer orbs and can scale up to 36x damage for matching leads in addition to reducing damage taken from their 2 elemental colours. The damage reduction is nice, but without more access to jammer producing actives will remain unusable along with only having 36x damage will make them better subs than leads. Bankai Andromeda: Leadership Potential?

Bankai Andro Adored Starsea Goddess, Andromeda is an ultimate evolution of an ultimate evolution. These types of evolutions are often referred to as Bankai and grants the monster a third typing along with minor leader skill modifications. Only awoken evolutions change the active skill and you will not have to invest any further work into your Andromeda. Artwork wise, GungHo went backwards as they removed her beautiful dragons, gave her a silly pose, and has a pink heart floating around her head. I liked the Andro art more as it inspired awe and power along with capturing the Dragons aspect in Puzzle and Dragons. Regardless, this evolution grants Bankai Andro :

  • +1,000 health
  • Physical typing
  • Additional Water Row and TPA awakenings
  • Leader skill now scales up to 5x with 10 connected water orbs
  • Worse art and less appealing thumbnail

Unlike her dark sister Pandora Pandora , you do not have to choose which evolution tree is better and should evolve right away as Bankai Andro will probably not receive an awoken evolution any time soon. Continue reading Bankai Andromeda: Leadership Potential?

Awoken Idunn & Idunna and Ryune Team Building and Discussion Guide

Awoken Iduann&Iduanna (I&I)  I&I paired with Returning-Claw Blue Dragonbound, Ryune Ryune forms a powerful 2x HP / 14.06x ATK / 2.5x RCV tank team that is capable of clearing end game content. Mono-colour tank teams have made a resurgence in popularity because they are capable of absorbing massive attacks and thus not need to bring any form of damage mitigation, able to recover large amount of health due to the 2.5x recovery multiplier, and ability to deal lethal damage by stacking row enhance Water Row awakenings along with built in damage enhancement from I&I . You will not see the spectacularly high numbers every turn that rainbow teams can produce, but instead are able to consciously control your damage as you are active reliant for damage output. Do note that just because your starting multiplier is only 14.06x, you can still burst like other high end leads because you are able to stack a single colour for damage along with specific actives and awakenings.

Lastly, I would like to thank Qrr for his screenshots and insight on their playstyle and mastery. Feel free to add his hypermaxed I&I .

Pros:

Farmable Monster Points and PreDRA Infestation

Mythical-Plus coop dungeons grant us the opportunity to farm a guaranteed PreDRA Fire PreDRA (aka 500 MP) for 50 stamina opens up the potential to slowly reach the 300k Monster Point goal needed to buy a MP Dragon. Furthermore, with the introduction of PreDRA Infestation, all players have the chance to acquire Latent Tamadras and modest amounts of Monster Points. As such, I want to analyse these 2 mediums separately to better explain my thoughts. I am going to make the assumption that your average REM roll is worth 5,000 MP (thus each stone = 1,000).

PreDRA Infestation is a new hourly dungeon that gives players an easy way to farm Latent Tamadras and Monster Points. The dungeon is split into 99 and 50 stamina difficulties and both have their pros and cons.

 50 stamina (2 runs)  99 stamina (1 run)
Floors  8  5
PreDRAs Fire PreDRA  6  3

The ideal team health refers to how much is required to survive 2 consecutive hits from the Latent Tamadra with out healing. Continue reading Farmable Monster Points and PreDRA Infestation

Monster Point Dragons: Analysis and Comparisons

The topic of which Monster Point Dragon to buy is on the forefront of many player’s minds as it is a large investment. Furthermore, as the game progresses and we accumulate more duplicates to sell, new players will be reaching the elusive 300k MP needed to make their first purchase. However, one should not be rash in decimating their monster box as these powerful dragons need the right subs to function properly. If you are having second thoughts or doubts about selling a particular monster, the answer is probably no and you must exercise patience and simply wait. Furthermore, your MP Dragon team does need an investment in levels, skill ups, and pluses to be truly powerful. Lastly, they require 10 million experience to max level, 99 team cost, and have challenging evolution materials.

I have omitted any farmable subs as those can be acquired over time. If you are missing many key subs required to run their team effectively, it may be wise to to delay purchasing as you may be running a sub-par line up otherwise. For a more expansive list that includes farmable monsters, refer HERE.

jjjjjjjjjjjjjjj  Shiva D
SHIVA DRAGON
About  Shiva D is perhaps the king of farming leads as he offers an unconditional 25x multiplier to fire gods. Shiva D can either focus on rows Fire Row or two prong attacks TPA to quickly mow down bosses. However, he somewhat falters in the highest level content due to a less dynamic sub pool, no bind immunity, and a weak active that places heavy emphasis on strong subs. Lastly, Shiva D is an easy way to score in the top 10% (or even 1%) of ranking dungeons.
Pros
  • Fastest farming lead in the game
  • Unconditional 25x ATK multiplier for fire gods
  • 2.25x RCV for fire gods
  • Capable of scoring in the top 10% of ranking tournaments with ease
Cons
  • 2-turn haste active places higher demand on ideal subs
  • Subs should almost always be orb changers as you effectively only have 4 actives
  • Can be bound (which is becoming more of an issue with pre-emptive leader binds)
  • Very REM dependent
Key Subs to Own Yamato Uriel Red Valk Set Ares Ares Ares Antares Ame Sanada Urd

Fire rows Fire Row are critical for large burst and the 3 Ares Ares are not a typo as you can run up to 3 with success.
